As per Nevada commission, there were 6,486 tickets sold for Cotto-Mayorga for a gate of $1,027,800. There were 1,876 unsold tickets. #boxing
Look up canelo's numbers for his last fight and he's only 21. he'd do those numbers in vegas EASY! Look up the numbers JCCjr did vs vanda in vegas. and you're wrong. Canelo and chavez both easily pull 20k in their mexico fights. and Margarito has broken attendance records at the Home depot center and his fight vs mosley was the highest attendance EVER at staples center for any event. If you think cotto does better in new york than canelo or JCCjr do in mexico and la combined than sorry you're just an idiot.
Cotto has done attendence record at MSG vs Judah, over 18K vs Mosley, over 18K vs Clottey, 23K vs Foreman, 12k vs Michael Jennings and those are just some of the numbers Cotto has done over 10K since early in his career in Puerto Rico. Put yor Mexicans against those guys in New York or even a neutral site and tell me how they do.
When has Margarito, Canelo and JCCJR done good numbers as headlines on MGM or even Las Vegas? Margarito has never been the A side of a major fight or a main event in Las Vegas the same for Canelo and JCCJR. They might do good numbers in Mexico but Cotto does a lot better in NY than they do in Mexico and LA combine.

What are you talking about? The number he did in Vegas was pretty good considering that he wasnt fighting a Mexican. This is the same town that brought only 10 thousand for Cotto-Margs 1 which was a highly anticipated fight.
umm no cotto vs margarito was sold out I was there. another reason why wiki leaks should never be used as a source.
and Mayweather, antonio margarito, canelo alvarez, and JCCJR

I know what you mean but this isn't anything like the claim that he's a top draw. A Major draw in boxing would pull out much more impressive numbers, even at this time for the economy. Just my 2c.
Mayweather did less than 10,000 against Baldomir and Judah (Who Cotto did 20K in NY) in Vegas and he has fought there almost his whole career. Cotto is an east coast fighter fighting a guy everyone tought he would beat. Is not a surprise he did 7,247 but is pretty good.
If Cotto was such a draw like his stans claim, he wouldn't have to rely on NY/PR. He's not the big draw people make him out to be.

Actually I didn't pull any numbers out of my ass I live in Vegas and simply went on MGM.com, it isn't that hard to do when you are actually interested in a fight. So I got one city wrong and your Vegas estimate is wrong also, it may have been up to 2 million a few years ago when it was the fastest growing city in the US, but now it one of the fastest of people leaving for the reasons I already posted. I'd be shocked if it was even 1.5 million, but all this is beside the point. My point is you are saying Vegas fight fans suck... I'm saying you don't know your ass from you elbow as you don't even live here. But perhaps the crappy attendance could also be attributed to the fact that Vegas fans get all the "great fights" and lackluster cards won't do nearly as well because of it?
Wrong again that was the population in 2010. Thats not important anyway my point was that there are better fight towns then Vegas and if some of these fights were held in different cities the atmosphere and attendence would be better. Im not saying you personally suck as a boxing fan so i dont know why you got offended. I wouldnt call Cotto-Margs and Juanma-Marquez lackluster fights for real boxing fans.
And people say he's a draw
Kilts do 10x that in germany
He does 20k in NY, sold out the MGM with Manny, got Manny the most buys of his career (More than Oscar) and got the highest rated PROGRAM on HBO last year...

btw just like you pulled those Juanma ticket prices out of your ass you pulled the populations of Dallas and Vegas out of your ass too. Vegas has 1.9 million people and Dallas has 1.1 million.

Looks like he's lost a lot of the buzz he had before. Truth be told though, the hype for the buzz wasn't even seen in Vegas on Saturday. Even after the fight in the casino, hardly anyone was going crazy over the tko win.
guess hbo didn't lose much when Cotto went to showtime.
lately only pac and may sell out mgm..for cotto to do those numbers as an east coast fighter against a fighter who hasn't fought significant fight in over a few years is pretty good...
