U just re-watched the entire first Pac vs Morales fight. My Dear God what an absolute classic! This fight does not get talked about nearly enough! Gutsy performances by both guys and they both took some HUGE shots!
I remember, this was the time when Pacquiao was perceived as a 1 hit wonder (Barrera) and after this fight it has proved that he can hang with the legends.
pac was the betting favorite. i got paid +140 on morales at caesars sports book.
Im tempted to mention that the headbutt was declared as a legal punch by the 'fair' referee. That affected the outcome considerably. but i wont mention it :D
What happened happened its part of the game.
Morales won that fight. and the 115-113 by all 3 judges were accurate.
I don't think Pacquiao will be as successful today if he did not lose that fight. The loss actually benefited his career. because Roach was forced to develop his right hand and improve his technique over all.
Morales wanted to give entertainment to the fans and almost paid dearly for it.
Toying for me is sugar ray leonard making duran say "no mas".
I wouldnt even go that far, since Duran actually was still in the fight on the scorecards, even though he was pissed off as all hell.
best example I can come up with is Mayweather-Sharmba Mitchell. Mayweather turned southpaw and was ****ing around with Mitchell until KOing him with a body shot. that was complete control.
one thing for certain is that Morales was not toying with Pacquiao. I think he left a lot of himself in that 12th round.
Morles definitely wasnt playing with Pacquiao...I mean, he lost the round and took some brutal shots. Could he have won the 12th had he stayed orthodox and fought smart? I definitely think so. but 'toying' is when you **** around with someone and are still in control. that was no the case.
The man just wanted to brawl for enjoyment of the fans.

12th round
most badass thing i've ever seen in a boxing ring
i wouldnt call it playing with pacquiao, though,
more like being ahead and taking some unnecessary shots and risks while showing supreme cajones.

What a badass.
saw both three fights between them:boxing:.... that first one is unarguably one for the books... pac lost... he got outboxed even if he scored two downs... regardless where the cut came from.... the fight is well worth to watch a second time... generation fighters at a go... this is how boxing is fight.... inside the quad, not outside of it with ya mouth....:boxing:
not so, morales was just shot already just watch the fight with zaheer rahim. Pacquiao also refused to give morales credit the first time because of "clitoris gloves".
Erik wasn't shot at that time, but he's already past his prime
yes great fight, im a pac fan but morales gave pac a boxing lesson in that fight...he even switched southpaw and played with pac if i remember correctly??

Morales did switch southpaw in the 12 round and lost that round big time. Pacquiao hit him with the hardest shots in the fight in that round.
I had Pacquiao winning that fight but the headbutt made it look like Morales was winning to the untrained eye.
:crying: :bottle:

But you also have to remember in their 1st fight they were not wearing punchers gloves so Morales was able to take those shots a lot better..In the second fight you seen how the body shots wore on Morales with punchers gloves..But it was a bad-ass fight in a whole and one that will be remembered for sure..

Oh man Erik was/is a beast. The fight also showed that Pacman was human. Like a script from a movie it added drama to his ascension to the top. Losing probably added more to his legacy then if he'd actually won the fight in controvesion fashion.
nah, it showed em was fcking inhuman.
they both won in my eyes, it was that great of a match. Pacquiao fought an awesome fight too. people like to exaggerate Morales' dominance sometimes, but Pacquiao was right there banging with him throughout the fight in every round.
I know for sure I came out of that fight gaining respect for both fighters.
i thought they were both winning too, then morales turned southpaw...
No excuses, morales won the fight fair and square.

yeah Pac destroyed Morales in that fight. To bad he got robbed like when he fought torre campo and dat other guy who used a-side meth to drop him.
you spelt jmm and chris john wrong.

the gloves made 0 percent difference in the fight.

That could be true.
