Lets say Cotto beats Mayorga and then Margarito in the summer. Meanwhile Pac also beats Shane Mosley.
Would you rather have Pacquiao fight JMM again at 147 (Pac's camp said that is the weight they would be fighting JMM at) or Cotto again at 154? (no catch weight) Or neither and another fighter.
This is assuming of course a Mayweather fight falls through again.
How about...neither of those sh*tty bouts FTW?
Right..because a Cotto-Pac fight would be at 150. Who wants to see that again?
Again Im asking out of those two possible fights which one would you rather see.
Neither of those are acceptable. If the Mayweather fight falls through, and Berto is still undefeated, that is the fight for Pacquiao. Maybe Bradley if he beats Khan.
if pacquiao fights Marquez at 147lbs, then thats bull****. Pacquiaos camp is always claiming hes too small for 147, well then **** that go to 140 to fight Marquez.
its all just bs.
I agree, if Pac came in at 144 for the weigh-in for his fight against Marg, then he could easily make 140, and still have the advantage on fight Night.
Regardless I think a Cotto rematch at any weight would be a huge waste of ****ing time.
If Emmanuel teaches Cotto how to clinch and fight while going backwards he can beat Pacquiao at 154. If he doesn't learn those two certain things, he won't even get passed Margarito, much less Pacquiao.
I simply have to laugh at people who think Pac has DRASTICALLY improved since fighting Marquez in 2008. Totally absurd, and just shows and extreme lack of boxing knowledge. Dude gets hit 221 times by Antonio Margarito and looks like he got into a street fight after the Clottey fight, yeah Pac is sooo much better. Still has a garbage jab, still lunges in, still has miserable defense, and is still susceptible to counter punching. And yes of course his footwork looks better when his opponents are literally standing flat footed in front of him the entire fight. You people crack me up. Styles people, styles, all that has changed is the styles of his opponents.
Another common misconception is the idea that Pac has gained significant size and muscle mass since his fight with Marquez in 2008. Once again completely and utterly false. When Pac and Marquez fought in 2008 Pac's fight night weight was 145 and Marquez was 141. Pac's fight night weight against Margarito was 148. Three pound difference in 3 years, yeah he's Jay Cutler now, so much bigger, so much stronger, you clowns have to check your facts. As a matter of fact how about this, Pac fought Morales when he was 27 years old in 2006, he was 144 on fight night. That's a four pound difference from the Margarito fight in 5 years. This dude has been around 145 on fight night ever since he was fighting at 125 people, he IS NOT that much bigger.
Margarito & Clottey were basically punching bags & JMM is hell of a lot different & better than those 2
like i said, i believe Pac will win but he'll not blitzkrieg his way to victory
JMM is good at adapting & still would pose problems for Pac
yeah and Diaz, Katsidis were not exactly Margarito and Clottey iether. just sayin.
Pac will destroy JMM at this point.
Team Pacquiao is crazy. Pacquiao at 140 lbs has a better chance at KOing Marquez than a bloated "147" (144 realistically). Speed speed speed
pacquiao can enter the ring at whatever he fells like
he can weigh 140 for a fight at 147
it's about his opponent and his size relative to pacquiaos
a marquez that limits pacquiao's size is a marquez w/ an advantage
it's all about their weights in the ring come fight night.
at 147 pacquiao will have the opportunity to walk into the ring at a comfortable weight and still carry a large advantage in size
a fight at 140 isnt as easy to make for pacquiao
and limits his size advantage on fight night
1st, Marquez at 147, pacquiao nor marquez are gonna weigh in at 147, so if they both come in at the same weight 143 ish i can dig it, i want another fight, just as a fan.
cotto at 154 sounds intriguing IF he dispatches Mayorga and Margarito.
But berto could get it, but his team aint really put him on the map, fighting ortiz is a good step towards that, cus no one's gonna know ur name when you fight that one dude.
and bradley IF he gets past Amir Khan, which is questionable.
AS IF Team Pacquiao would dare go to 154 against Cotto. Maybe some BS catchweight but they would never let Cotto or anyone else come in at 154. Damn, they would probably make Martinez come to 150. Pathetic
And why is JMM at 147 being considered? When JMM fought at 142 it was clearly too much for him! Why doesn't Pac fight Berto at 147? Or Bradley even?
Pacquiao wouldn't fight Cotto at 154, it would be at least a 150 catchweight and JMM shouldn't fight Pac at 147, the fight should be nearer 140, JMM gets destroyed at 147.

its hard to say. if we're assuming that both pac and marquez stepped up their game at the same rate, then yes, stylistically, Marquez would give Pac serious problems.
but while Pac has added some new tricks to his arsenal and adjusted quite well at 147, i cannot truly say the same about marquez.
in other words, the marquez of 2011 is just the same marquez at 2008, just at a higher weight class.
marquez would most likely pose some interesting puzzle for Pac, but from my point of view, Pac has the SIGNIFICANT advantage at 140 and more so at 147.
stop living in the past man! its 2011..JMM wont last for 12 rounds. if you watch the fight in 2008 and watch Pac's fight against Margarito, CLottey and Cottey you'd see a lot has changed. his footwork is awesome. he can move around while throwing punches. Pac didnt do that against Marquez. Pac was basically trading punches against Marquez for 12 rounds.
i feel sorry for JMM if Pac agree to fight him again. 140 lbs or 147 lbs wont make any difference. JMM will come in fight night at 144 lbs which is his ideal weight and Pac will be around that weight too.

i had no prob with Pac-JMM at 147, they're both blown up featherweights anyway
it doesn't matter what division they fight, JMM would still pose problems for Pac stylistically
only difference is Pac can carry his power at 147 while JMM cannot, however that doesn't mean that JMM would lose to any 147 fighter today
but then again, JMM has tasted Pac's power at least in lower weights but still got up & won rounds against him

I agree with Tony the Tiger. Pac even fought Cotto, the champion at the time, at a catch weight. Pac should at least meet in the middle for Marquez since Marquez is a not only a p4p great, but one of the best boxers of this generation and the first two fights were way too close.
Cotto, for his sake, should avoid Pac. Clean up the 154 division like a real champ. I think he would man handle anyone in that division besides Alvarez However, we all know that fight would never happen anyway because of the fan-agonizing Top Rank, Golden Boy rift.
He hasnt been in there with many boxers but still the size diffrence would be too much and add in sergios punching power plus speed and cotto will have problems. Plus i dont think cottos chin is what it used to be after the two beatings he took.
Sergio is big but he also will be very weak at 154, remember he was having a hard time making 157 against Williams. Along with that Martinez is what 36 now?
Cotto has been able to handle faster fighters before and he has a great jab. Sergio's movement might cause problems but Cotto is good at chasing fighters and setting up punches.
Obviously Martinez could get a KO he has sneaky power. And honestly I would favor Sergio over Cotto it just isnt fair to write him off so easily.
