HGH test would track use for up to two weeks
A Virginia company claims to have a urine-based test for human growth hormone that could be used to drug test athletes two weeks after its use, rather than 48 hours or less.
The company, Ceres Nanosciences, says the test eliminates the need for blood tests to detect HGH. Players' associations have pushed back on blood tests. Ceres says its test can be available within six months, through the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The story was first reported by the Washington Business Journal.
Current tests track HGH use only within the past 48 hours. The two-week test, and having it be urine-based, would theoretically make it harder for athletes to evade an HGH test.
A WADA spokesman said the organization is encouraging Ceres to continue researching the test. No worldwide studies have been conducted.

Seems Ceres has gone through all the necessary hurdles (worldwide baseline tests, clinical trials, funding etc) and the product is finally in the development stage.
They were funded by USADA and developed a new technology known as nanotrap that can detect certain proteins at a much higher rate than normal for longer periods of time. The current blood tests for HGH are clearly ineffective as they A) supposedly can only detect HGH in a person's system for about 48 hrs after use. B) No one has ever failed an HGH blood test (with the exception of one in Europe that is contested, but no Olympic athlete has ever tested positive for HGH). Either no one uses HGH any more or, more likely, the current test is useless. This is bolstered by the fact that even USADA thought it necessary to fund a new test, pretty much admitting that the current procedure/protocol is flawed.
That is no longer a problem with this new technology which can detect it for up to 2 weeks in an athlete's urine.
"In our view, the results of our scientific study demonstrate the ability to measure HGH in urine
using existing FDA approved assays coupled to Nanotrap enrichment" said Lance Liotta, M.D., Ph. D., codirector of the Center for Applied Proteomics and Molecular Medicine at George Mason University, "We
now are exploring the feasibility of measuring specific isoforms of HGH in urine using the Nanotrap
technology, which has not been done before" he continued. "We plan to proceed methodically through
this process with the highest degree of scientific rigor and peer-review".

Everyone who is so worried about HGH not being able to be detected in urine (or blood for that matter) can now rest assured that anyone who partakes in HGH doping can be caught red-handed for up to 2 weeks after use with a urine test as soon as Ceres makes it commercially available. :boxing:

That's excellent....truly....but does the NSAC or any other commission use this test. **** they don't even test for EPO.
There isn't too many tests I wouldn't take with $40million on the table. That's just me though. :D
I never ask my past 40 opponents for OST. Now that I have to fight him just like Cotto and Margarito, I'm scared I could lose my beloved 0. I dont care about the $40m. I know his history about the blood draining against Morales. I know he will never agree to those demand at first considering his bad experience about it. But when he does agree in second time, I will quickly pack my bag and should go on vacation. Well, this is what happened!
Foreman is no example to follow. I distinctly remember Ali pretty much whippin his ass and breakin his spirit. Good job at 45 but a true chump at 25. Seems like an ex-Olympian would be for it. He is what yall refer to as a Pactard anyway so why bother.
So what he lost to Ali? He had the balls to step in the ring with the Greatest and made no excuses not to fight him.
What qualifies as slander then? Boxing is one of the most macho sports in the world so is it slanderous to call a fighter a coward every chance you get? That little notion spread like wild fire after Roach started runnin his mouth. I know "If youre not scared then fight" is the cry. Dont file a lawsuit when your closest people yap off every chance they get. "If you're clean then givem a lil blood". It wont hurt anything but your fans pride.
foyd by boxing standards is a coward bro...he's the only one who's not ok with the commision testing......everybodydy else is fine with it....
"I don't care if someone was taking coal, oil, gasoline, or diesel, offer me twenty million, I'll fight 'em. He could be drinking fire, swallowing fire, I'd fight him. Whatever they take, the better"
-George Foreman
Stop creating obstacles to prevent this fight from happening Floyd! Take a page from George Foreman's book and just fight the fkn guy already!
After all, you're fighting a "one dimensional Philipino midget who would be easy work"..........But I want him tested because what he's doing is remarkable!
notice I wrote etc... At the end of the sentence, I am not a medical scientist, I dont know what drugs can and can not be detected by blood. I think with Pac the problem is cycling, wanting to set cut offs and know when the testing would be.
if you're ignorant of that fact, then don't randomly accuse anyone of something the facts of which, you have no clue on.
it only serves to make you look stupid.
let me put it to you simply....
urine tests are sufficient to detect PEDS, STERIODS, HORMONES etc. the ONLY thing blood testing can detect that urine apparently can't is HGH.
note that Manny was and IS agreeable to unlimited random urine testing from the start of training until right after the fight.
and even then, the benefits of HGH is highly questionable. in other words, people aren't even sure IF HGH provides any real advantages to boxers.
Pac is also agreeable to be blood tested RANDOMLY up to seven days right before the fight.
that seven days, for those who are more familiar with boxing, is the toning down period. the time when boxers no longer train as much to "cool down" and give the body time to recover just before the fight.
understand that HGH is taken DURING TRAINING, just like what mosley did when he cheated (and he took it for two months straight). it wouldn't make sense for Pac to start taking HGH when he's no longer training but cooling down for the fight.
let the experts do their job and stop squacking here...
if floyd dont want this kind of new testings and he needs blood to test
manny..
im thinking he is afraid of manny.. if you take away blood.. it will take away
proteins, nutrients and oxygen... stamina needs oxygen.. and if training you
need a lot stamina, speed and strength and as for boxers like manny you
need to maintain it and get used to it so your body is exercised the way
manny wants it, like the margarito fight he needs a lighter version of his
body than a heavier weight with power but less mobile.. if from time to time
and floyd needs to test manny in every weeks of its training.. floyd is
degrading his opponent..we know manny is an agressive fighter and floyd is a
defensive fighter and thats the difference if you are an aggressive fighter
you need speed and power. for me if floyd dont want this kind
of new testing i doubt there will be a fight for manny... T_T
the tests has already been discussed by the commission and found out that it present additional risks and is unnecessary
tygart was there to present his case.
fukk floyd's ***** ass test.
do what the commission requires.
I have a joke, Mannt Pacquiao is so dumb he cant even pass a blood test :chomp:

Nothing subliminal, I said it was a rant. The only reason PEDs are an issue is because of some smack talking by the Mayweathers. There's no science or proof or reasonable evidence to support their slander.
I'm not opposed to testing. Nothing wrong with clean athletes at all, let the testers do their testing. I'm against boxers making unfounded accusations against other boxers. Its a shame to see a form of McCarthyism at work in boxing.
as long as athletes take the test required by the commission, then they are not obliged to take extra tests.
people say, "well, olympians take the tests!"
no sh!t, they are required to. pacquiao is not.
the tests are obviously a road block. when pacquiao shows signs he is willing to budge on the testing, what does floyd do? go on vacation. even go as far as denying there were even negotiations
I say fukk the tests. if floyd doesn't want it, its not gonna happen either way
Will you STFU!? Pac said a million times already. They can test his urine ANYTIME they want! Do you know what ANYTIME means? It means no cut off or you can go to Philippines now and drink his urine to taste if there is any PEDs on it or you need me to explain it to you further?
Hopefully this new urine testing will be proven to work and adopted by every commision, this will make all the drama a non issue, so maybe we'll soon see if its the blood or the drug that got Pac shook.
notice I wrote etc... At the end of the sentence, I am not a medical scientist, I dont know what drugs can and can not be detected by blood. I think with Pac the problem is cycling, wanting to set cut offs and know when the testing would be.

You are subliminally just talkin about the Mayweathers. Take them out of the equation and tell me you can come to your senses. It is a factor or they wouldnt take them. Its the difference between a long fly out and a homerun. Its the difference between 1st and 10 and 4th and 1. So its no way it's not the difference between rockin a guy with a left and putting him to sleep. Thats just the sports part. Boxers are agressive by nature so add some extra testosteron to the adrenaline rush of a confrontation and you pretty much have a drunkin idiot in a bar with abnormal human strength. If you are using then you are the witch they should be lookin for. So whats immoral about clean athletes. Dont spite your common sense to run with senseless hate.

Even though there is a urine test now better than blood testing plus Pac said before...they can take his urine sample anytime they want or the Mayweathers/flomos drink it if they want. Floyd/Mayweathers crackhead family and the flomos will still insist for the blood draining technique. You may wonder why?
1. you're an idiot. pac NEVER wanted to know what day the tests would be. he just wanted the tests anytime up to a certain point. and that timetable is just seven days. since this new test allows detection of usage within two weeks, then it definitely solves THAT problem.
2. manny was and IS ok with unlimited urine tests from start of training up to right after the fight, so these tests are more than welcome.
3. urine tests can detect EPO and other PEDS. in fact, the ONLY thing the blood tests were for was to detect HGH. (which has questionable benefits in itself)
notice I wrote etc... At the end of the sentence, I am not a medical scientist, I dont know what drugs can and can not be detected by blood. I think with Pac the problem is cycling, wanting to set cut offs and know when the testing would be.
What the hell are you talking about?
You're post would make sense IF Manny or his mouthpieces would have flat out refused to undergo testing protocols under USADA when it was first proposed back in 2009.
They DID NOT REFUSE nor did they REJECT the idea of additional testing which includes blood drawing.
In fact, random blood and urine testing was already part of the contract. It was one of the first proposals written at the beginning of the contract.
All we got from Team Pacquiao was excuses and a run around.
So what are you trying to make people believe?
**Er. I didn't say they did??
My comment was - let the authorities deal with drug testing and let the fighters do the fighting. Fighters shouldn't be calling out other fighters as cheats.
Or perhaps you misunderstood my whole post. But that's okay.
