If so, so much that did for him. He stunk the place out and in my opinion recieved a gift decision against a guy who made Mayorga look like a highly skilled technical fighter. Ponce looked as sloppy as they come yet still managed to out work and outpoint Bromer.
I hope HBO never gives him a date again!
boxing needs less of the boring black american runners, they cant draw any fans and they stink up the place: dawson, alexander, brone, dirrell, ward, berto. no killer instinct, they run and care for jab "points" rather then destroying a lesser fighter.
needs more: kirkland, cloud, bradley, and fighters from spanish speaking countries
I would take off.. Ward and Berto off that list of no killer instict list..
^Exactly my point, can't help to categorize me by 'race'. I couldn't care less about Broner, I didn't even see the fight. The thread has been discussing slick boxing styles, but in the context of race ("black Americans"). I am not the one racially obsessed, who ever brought up African-Americans as a boxing monolith are the crying, whinny, cry-baby losers. I'm content with the status of slick African-American fighters in the great scheme of things. I have no reason to 'cry' like those in this thread. I'm responding to you cry-babies, so it's ironic you accuse me of this, but of course to you all Blacks are cry-babies, lol. What a nazi.:)
*looks at username, "sonofisis"*
:cool2:
Another AA crying

^Exactly my point, can't help to categorize me by 'race'. Just another jealous clown with no courage to admit his own prejudice and bias. What a nazi.:) Folks, tell me this is not equivalent to: "You people are always crying and are all the same, look, another "black" person mentioning racism", soooo predictable".
Your prejudice blinds you sir, I'm making a candid observation, that's all but of course if I'm "black", then my credibility is low and I must not be justified, I get it.
Don't worry. Some of these guys are just covert racists, which is why at every opportunity they look for ways to discredit African-American fighters, a long time staple of the sport. AAs basically dominate the all time p4p list (especially the top 10). Maybe they're jealous of this fact which is why they can't help but mention race when their favorite fighters get beat.
Another AA crying and whining about racism. Broner will never be any good. He couldnt take out a far inferior and smaller fighter. These are facts not racism. Stick your race card up your azz.
^These people are not objective. Why bother? Any one who says Berto runs doesn't know anything. These are just creative ways to blast as many AAs as possible in one fell swoop.
LOL what? If you think Ward and Berto are runners and have no killer instinct then you must have -6 vision...Berto is known for his heart and ability to go after opponents. I've never seen a round where he doesn't load up and try to take his opponent's head off (even if it means he gets outboxed). And I don't see how anyone who saw Ward fight Kessler and Bika can say he's a runner. He brawled with Bika the whole time, and went after Kessler and backed him up the whole time. He even tried to knock him out at the end.
As for Broner, well he's just young and has a lot to learn like Devon Alexander. Just look at a guy like Andre Dirrell. Once he got more experience, he started to look much more impressive. I wish he was still boxing.

If you saw the fight, which you clearly didn't, you would have noticed that it was the Mexican running away from the counter puncher.
Cmon you dont really believe that
Yeah less Broner and more Matthew Hatton, obviously TS prefers the punching bag no chance in a million years style
Well I commend M. Hatton for giving it all he had given the fact that he was in against a bigger better opponent. If Broner had Hatton's balls, he could have KO'd Ponce
That was a boring ass fight. Ya boy ponce was undersized and was stunned by a bunch of broners shots. Too bad broner's too scary to follow up with more shots or actually really try and put someone out.
HBO will give him another date and I think a lot of people would be interested. Yes, he stunk up the joint but he also is only 21 years old in his very first step up. He showed that he has skills but is very inexperienced and raw. If he learns how to put his punches together he will turn out to be a really good fighter. We have already seen that he has a decent chin, good footwork, good speed and is a pretty outstanding counter puncher. Those four skills right there are a great foundation for a fighter. He's young, give him some time.
People seem to forget that kids like Broner, Jacobs, and Alexander are so very young. These guys aren't even in their prime and still learning. Just because they are already fighting world class opponents doesn't mean they are world class yet.
So, let them stay on ESPN until they polish their skills into world class talent.
Having a foundation doesn't mean squat unless that foundation is holding something.

I actually think Broner showed glimpses of real potential in spots.
I mean he was phenominal in Round 5.
Just clearly lacks experience.
He should give De Leon a rematch though.
