Haye has just given an interview in The Sun in which he claims the fight is on:
Haye: Wlad bout is back on track
DAVID HAYE has confirmed his world heavyweight unification clash with Wladimir Klitschko is back ON.
The WBA champion is confident the bout can take place on July 21 after the Klitschko camp contacted his manager Adam Booth to ask for negotiations to complete contracts.
Haye's showdown against his mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev in May has been postponed while Klitschko — the IBF and WBO champion — is scheduled to face Dereck Chisora at the end of April.
The Hayemaker said: "We are back on. We are trying to make it happen.
"We went a long while with nothing from their side, then all of a sudden we got a phone call from Klitschko's camp.
"They made contact with us, which I believe now shows they do want this fight to go ahead."
Booth is working on thrashing out the finer points of the contract but virtually everything was settled during the last round of talks before Klitschko pulled the plug.
Haye added: "How it all ended up last time was that we got to an agreement and then all of a sudden they turned round and said, 'We are fighting Chisora first'.
"Everything was agreed and we were waiting for it to go to contracts that would be legally binding. Just as we were about to put pen to paper with the terms we heard nothing from them.""
Okay Haye spouts some bullshit at the end of the interview, and The Sun's reporter also spouts some bullshit about it being Wlad who pulled the plug, when he must know damn well that it was Haye who pulled the plug; but nevertheless, Haye wouldn't have gone public like this about the fight being on if the negotiations weren't going well, and he also wouldn't have done those twitter feeds if he wasn't in serious negotiations. Plus Boente wouldn't have gone public about being optimistic if he didn't think negotiations were going okay. Plus multiple anonymous sources in both camps have also said they're close to doing a deal.
Booth is an idiot, and is still capable of screwing things up even now, but it's obvious from all the above that the fight is more likely to happen than not.
Bottom line, Sky have forced Haye's hand and Haye can't really afford not to sign this time.
Please move all discussion here: Haye has released the same thing to the boxing sites, literally hours after his manager announced that the fight was premature.

That wasn't a lie, and nor were they misquoting anyone - it was just a stupid error. Even the quality papers make errors of that sort occasionally.
They do lie quite brazenly sometimes, but they are extremely unlikely to intentionally misquote Haye. They want him to keep giving them interviews.
The point is their morons, lieing ones at that.
I'm not disputing what's been said by whoever, I don't know.
What I do know is using The Sun as a source is simply unreliable.
According to that article, Haye says they will be fighting on July 21.
But July 21 is a Thursday. :)
You can never believe a word Haye says. :liar:
Haye is now claiming it's back on officially.
Does anyone remember when The Sun reported the death of COLUMBIAN Edwin Valero?

I think that date was probably a typo. :) All other sources are still talking about July 2.
Yes he's a congenital liar, but it still wouldn't make sense for him to give this interview unless he thought a deal was close.
The Sun HAS posted ouright lies before. They could care less about being sued.
They wouldn't want to be sued by Haye - they're his cheerleader. I agree that what their reporter wrote was mostly misleading spin, but Haye himself won't have been misquoted, and he wouldn't have given the interview at all if he didn't think a deal was close.
Haye wouldn't go public like this if he didn't think it was close to being signed - it would just make him look even more stupid than he looks already.

Here's something that proves the fight isn't ON like they claimed earlier in the article.
Booth is working on thrashing out the finer points of the contract but virtually everything was settled during the last round of talks before Klitschko pulled the plug.

Having a claimed signed contract before doesn't make this current fight signed, but we'll continue to watch this unfold. My guess would be this article is trash unless we here officially through a press release.
See my other post - The Sun meant that negotiations are back on track, not that the fight is definitely happening. I agree their wording was very misleading, but Haye clearly believes that a deal is close, even if Booth is playing it down (and Booth is capable of screwing up the simplest negotiations).

The Sun has zero credibility.
This.
The sun might as well be the national enquirer.
I'll stick with Booth's claim that the fight isn't even close to being done.
Back in 2003 The Sun told me that Ronaldo went to Scotland to visit his old friend Colin Cameron, and that he personally told him he is interested in leaving Real Madrid to join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Just a few weeks ago I was reading The Sun and it had a picture of Glen Johnson and it had a caption underneath it saying 'Derek Chisora'
The Sun has zero credibility.
He also says: ""We are back on. We are trying to make it happen."
The title and first sentence were a little misleading, and the whole article is full of misleading spin, but if Haye wasn't very confident that a deal would be reached soon, he wouldn't have given this interview. He isn't saying the fight is on, as the Sun claims, he's actually saying that the negotiations are back on and that he thinks a deal is close.
Booth is a lousy negotiator and may yet screw things up, but I'm pretty sure from the Sun interview, Haye's tweets, the fact that Sky have pulled the plug on him for May, Boente's public optimism that a deal will be done, and the many anonymous sources in both camps who have said that a deal is close, that a deal really is close this time.
I don't doubt that Haye said that but it is nothing like what they're claiming in the article.
The title of the article is VERY misleading, and the Sun is well known for publishing made up stories.
It says back on track, then it says ON and then the quote says:
"We went a long while with nothing from their side, then all of a sudden we got a phone call from Klitschko's camp.
"They made contact with us, which I believe now shows they do want this fight to go ahead."
Far far from being on, especially after the typical press release from Booth earlier today.
He also says: ""We are back on. We are trying to make it happen."

The only thing real in THE SUN are the DD's on page 3.
Do you honestly think they made up the interview with Haye? Haye would sue them if they did that. What they wrote themselves was heavily spun, and their headline is very misleading, because Haye doesn't actually say that the fight is on, only that he is confident that it will take place, and that the negotiations are back on; but the things they directly quote Haye as saying, he will have said.
Moral of the story:
NEVER read or believe ANYTHING The Sun prints.
In these circumstances, I can't think of a sillier moral. The point is that Haye has gone public about it. Where he chose to go public is irrelevant.
