The "lack of speed" sh!t is overblown. The kid has good hand speed and even better timing. His timing and reaction time for his counter punching is going to make up for whatever "lack of speed" those talent scouts are seeing. JMM and Morales didn't have the hand speed of Pacquiao, but they had timing and that's one of the main reasons they performed so well. And his technique is textbook, he's looking pretty similar to Kostya Tszyu.

Anybody can look good doing mitt work. As long as you and your trainer know the routine , you both meet halfway , plus the contact , the short punches , and the sounds make it look faster than they are. If he had to fully extend those punches , and the target wouldnt come to him all the time you will see the real speed and time. Not saying that hes slow or fast. But it might look a bit faster than what he is. Anybody can look good on the mitts , except DR.ORGY.

Hmm its easy to look fast on pads depending on the pad holder. He does look like he's improving though. Still not sold on him or jcc jr yet.

I just saw that video. Damn he looked sharp on those pads...that doesn't mean that he's all of a sudden gonna be some Meldrick Taylor speed demon, but he's definitely pre-prime physically and technically. He's only going to get better, faster and stronger. Bright future.

It's faster because he isn't punching like he would in the ring. He certainly wasn't punching like this in his last fight. yeah, seriously. some people can look good in training, but its what you do come fight night.. i really hope this fight is a challenge for him, but also brings out the best of him ( at this point of his career). can't wait to see how this fight plays out...
