Better resume: Martinez or Donaire?

close call but sergio takes it imo. if that darch victory happened just a bit later, i would have given it to donaire.

tough one... i pick donaire cause darchinyan, montiel>williams, pavlik

maravilla's had the tougher run and donaire's got the bigger wins (borderline HOF's on his resume with montiel and darchinyan) maravilla's got a fighter of the year and knockout of the year under his belt as well, as well as being the legit MW world champion, which is a serious belt that's been held by some of the greatest fighters ever. but then again donaire is putting that type of start together for 2011 we shall see right now i'm going with maravilla because he's at a later stage but donaire's got the bigger upside in terms of talent and time frame and skills

I give the slight edge to Martinez, wins over Pwill, Pavlik, Cintron (I have to count that as a win, he got absolutely screwed twice) and a decision loss to Pwill that could've went either way, which he took on very short notice, I think its very close though, Donaire is likely to overtake him soon.

I will admit its close,but Martinez is a champion of a div..Martinez also has big wins in a shorter time span,I believe Donaire should be 5 after JMM.. I also have Donaire currently at #5. But I wouldn't be mad if someone had him at #3. I personally have Sergio at #3 at the moment for his wins over a widely considered P4P top 5 in Williams and the Lineal Champion at 160. But on the other hand Donaire has very impressive wins over Vic, Sydorenko and argubally the #1 at 118 in Montiel. Along with other solid wins. It's a really close comparison in all honesty.

Martinez wins came from an overrated Paul Williams and over the hill Pavlik, watch how shietty pavlik fights on his next match and you will see what I am talking about. Hes been done since Taylor and Bhop- they already showed away how to beat him. Same goes for most overrated fighter of all time- Paul Williams. The only difference from the two is that Donaire fought guys when they are on top

im not really sold on the "Serg fought bigger fighters" or "Nonito is bigger" clause Sergio is practically bulkier than P.Will, Williams is only taller, same with Pavlik Nonito is not that big as others here imply, plus i think his power is overrated Sergio weighed 167, pavlik 180. I don't understand what you're saying bro....Pavlik is MUCH bigger. Not just taller.

probably the deciding factor why i rate Nonito over Sergio those major wins by Donaire didn't get past 5 rounds, all ended in TKO/KO Martinez lost the 1st fight against PWill (although very close) I mean that is one way to look at it...And, it's a different variable that I can see and respect. Another variable with that is that, a KO could also has more to do with styles, attributes, and mindset.

I would lean towards Donaire because Vic and Fernando were bigger wins than Pavlik and Williams IMO, but both these guys are still building resumes and the question should wait til they are done fighting and we are looking back at their careers. And, really that is all it is...You can lean with either or one... You can say that Montiel and Darchinyan are better wins..But, then you can also say that Pavlik and P-Will are better wins in a sense that Martinez was not a huge favorite over them like Donaire was against Montiel. You can take that into account. You can say is more impressive in beating Pavlik and P-Will back-to-back then beating Montiel and Darchinyan in a 3 year span. You can also take that into account. Again is all an opinion...You can go with either one. Leaning towards Donaire is fine, leaning towards Martinez is fine... I think the issue is when people start saying that somebody is clearly ahead of the other. Which is not clear at all.

I don't care about the size TBH. I mean Donaire is fighting in his 3rd weight-class so what is all this about size? If you can make weight then you can make weight. I don't even look into that. However, I do take into account the perception of the fight going in. What did people think about the fight going into it, who was the favorite/underdog going into the fight....
