How can anybody call that a robbery?
I understand if some people thought Hopkins won by a point or two, but a robbery? come on. How can anyone be pissed they scored it for Calzaghe, He clearly made Hop tired and stayed on the aggresive. It was a very close fight that could have gone either way. I had it 115 -112 for Calzaghe
If the punches Calzaghe threw didn't hit anything, what made Hopkins tired?
It isn't the simple fact that Hopkins got tired that lost him important rounds, it's the fact that his being tired drove down his workrate and activity and he could not keep up with Calzaghe's.
Having to evade punches makes you tired....

I had the exact same score when I watched a vid of it for the 1st time 2 years after it took place, ppl are crazy calling that a robbery.
115-112 was what i had as well. Probably the only thing you were ever right about.

I agree. I haven't watched the fight again - and didn't score it the first time - but I walked away from the set with the impression that Calzaghe was the winner that night.

hopkins has his fair share of fans (10 maybe) who score lowblows, headbutts, and clinches as landed punches....

I had the same score but for Hopkins,it was by no means a robbery tho..
whoa easy there dude - don't classify a nation of 300 million people into the ethnocentric american stereotype. I had it Calzaghe 116-111. Hopkins definitely stung Calzaghe with some shots, but Calzaghe made Hopkins look foolish for the most part by getting in and out and out speeding, and out thinking him.
Exactly my opinion with my score 116-112. I actually found it hard to give Hopkins anything definitive. Maybe that's because i actually dislike watching him, and unless he's fighting a worth while opponent, I normally wouldn't bother. And I'm a guy who likes to ge to the fightd EARLY and watch every little 4 rounder all the way down to the walk-out fight.
The fact is that Calzaghe found Hopklins' style difficult, but handled him easily enough to win well, making a fool of him in the process. Half the time he was pplaying with him, showing Hopkins' helplessness.
I scored it 115-112 too I think.
for calzaghe? how in the world did calzaghe win 8 rounds? makes no sense. hopkins outlanded calzaghe by a wide margin in at least 6 rounds but i'm guessing you gave those to calzaghe anyway because he marched forward!
Calzaghe pulled off a amazing feat, by robbing a American in America.
I thought that was only possible in Europe? :dunno:
they should have robbed calzaghe and given roy jones the decision.
according to compbox calzaghe landed 13 punches in round 2. i counted 1 clean punch(looked like hopkins blocked most of it but lets count it and be generous). according to compubox calzaghe landed 16 punches in round 5. i counted 1 clean punch. he can't even hit him! he can only touch him when he's clinching how pathetic. maybe compubox counts those lil taps to the back and shoulders while clinching even though those are non scoring areas and aren't really punches. just too much blazing hand speed for them to handle i guess.
