pascal was about to go .... dawson was putting the hurt on him late on when dawson came to his senses .. chad wont have any problems in the rematch ... dawson is an awesome fighter , he needs to let go more ... pascal aint **** ... he was about to go to sleep against dawson , and clearly beaten by X ...
i never heard any suspicion of the fight being fixed and i dont think it was myself. there could be lots of reasons why he didnt go after it. he was tired, maybe he had been hurt by pascal earlier and didnt wanna risk getting caught, maybe he felt he was wearing pascal down and just decided to be patient. pascal was very tired and getting hurt more by every punch dawson landed, by rushing in dawson might give pascal the chance to land a bomb and turn the momentum.
personally i think it was a combination of everything, most importantly dawson is a safety first fighter. watch his other fights (especially early ones) and u will see he very rarely goes after guys, its been the main critisism his whole career.

all the reasoning about him, being a safety first fighter is one thing, but pascal was really really wobbly, there is a difference in being cautious and just standing there doing nothing.
In the first part of the fight, he was quite frustrated by pascal, but to me, he seemed to pick it up and better pascal in the later rounds.

watch it from around 2.39 and then look at pascal, arms along his sides, doesnt cover up and ready to get ktfo.. im really lost for words, when it came to dawsons reaction in that particular situation, and no amount of being safety first, cautious or even afraid, really explains his reaction and thats why i asked, if there had been any rumours/allegations regarding matchfixing

chaD Dawson is just not in the right sport. His lack of killer instinct is becoming more and more evident over time. He waits waaaaaay too long in between fights. He has made bad business decisions, his promoter suck. He can't sell out a holiday inn conference room in Connecticut, and he goes into his fights thinking all he has to do is box a bit, throw a couple counters and he's gonna coast to an easy handraising.
My favorite thing about rewatching that fight is dawson's postfight interview.
By the way, bhop could fight Chad or not, but he's smart enough to know there's no money in it and it would be terribly boring. All the other guys bhop was trying to fight would bring it. He needs that in opponent. Chad johnsons brings 0.
I think he's just bitter that stardom has eluded him, and that causes him to give even less enjoyable performances. That second Tarver fight was bad. 175 is not very deep, but Chad still hasn't faced a lot of the names floating around the top ten. Diaconu, Shumenov, Erdei, and Cloud would all be interesting fights.
Chad only fought once in 2010 and it was a loss, his post fight interview was embarrassing. Hopefully he's done some reflecting and is looking to come back and make a statement.
Shouldnt be ****ing with James Prince though, doesnt he remember what happened to Floyd??

good and insightfull påost mate.
but still, in the splitsecond, that pascal was an inch away from being knocked out, how the hell could dawson go through a thought process, that would say "hey chad, pascal is seriously rocked, but **** it, ill just do nothing and let him of the hook, because i have some problems"
i´ve seen fighters looking at the ref, urging them to stop the fight out of respect for the other fighters health, but his one, i have never seen before.
has there been any suspicion, about matchfixing.?

acctually there is proof, i think the hbo team were talking about it in the pre fight feature or dawsons ringwalk. apparently he felt everybody including the majority of his family were out for his money.
he moved his wife and kids away from were he had been living and training his whole life. all this supposably caused alot of drama and ppl close to chad said he wasnt prepared to fight mentally and that his head was somewhere else.
chads ex manager gave an interview on it after the fight with pascal, he claimed it was the new ppl in his life convincing chad he couldnt trust anybody. according to him they made chad fire him (the manager) and move away and the manager blamed the loss on that saying chad shouldve stayed put and that he trusted the wrong ppl.
i dont think it excuses his performance though, a fighter needs to be able to block out whatever goes on around him and focus on the task at hand. its not like hes the first athlete to have ppl trying to leech of him. but as long as he learns that lesson from this fight he will be better than ever, you learn more from your losses than u do your wins. i like pascal but he is nowhere near dawson in terms of ability, chad should never have let that guy beat him.

whne he hurt pascal with the peach of an uppercut, i believe it was in the 10 or 11 round, dawson just stood there and did nothing.
i cant claim to to know about any specific problems regarding dawson, his camp, wife, mother or whatever, but that was just so weird.
seriously i cant remember a fighter acting like that, it had nothing to do with lack of killer instinct, a mental blockage or whatever, otherwise he wouldnt be boxing for a living.
i truely believe, there was something that went on, that still hasnt been made public. As said, i have no proof, but just my gut feeling.

Agreed that Dawson didn't fight a good fight and that he'll do better in a rematch, but Pascal barely got hit in the minute before the fight was stopped. He took some good punches in the beginning of the round, then the counter uppercut that froze him, but after that he didn't get hit for a good while. You can hardly say he was about to go.
Dawson has all of the possible traits you could ask for in a fighter he is an A+ level talent the guy just completely lacks any kind of killer instinct. Dawson sleepwalked for 8 rounds against a very good fighter and still "should have" won. Dawson just doesn't know how to go for the kill.
Oh no doubt, Chad fought like **** most of that fight, but it was just starting to heat up when it was stopped. That's why they're so mad about the Hopkins rematch taking place first: Its no secret that Bhop has avoided Dawson, but taking that strap off Hopkins will be a lot more difficult than taking it off Pascal.
