This fight is great in and of itself. However, it's even better that it's setting up big things for the winner by the end of 2011. I'm thinking Rios is going to handle this step up fairly well, however anyting can happen.
Still, the winner is going to have a decent match-up with Soto by years end if the fight is a good one and we might actually have a decent Lightweight championship match up for early 2012. Gotta love it.
If they both get by their next opponents, the Rios/Soto fight would be a great treat.
yeah should be action packed...im pulling for rios though...i would like to see him and soto get it on...nothing personal acosta...also wouldn't mind seeing rios vs ortiz (just because of the bad blood)...

Rios is one of the strongest lightweights I've seen in forever. His skill deficiencies will eventually get the best of him though. At times Lowther seemed to be giving as well as he was taking from Rios. I'm going with Acosta by decision, but a Rios KO wouldn't surprise me.
Rios does have a heart that you don't usually see in the younger fighters.

Yep.. assuming they both win, rios vs soto would be action packed. If rios gets past soto.. he won't have to cut as much weight and fill in at Jr. WW very easily. He may be lacking in the skills department, but, makes up for it with his heart and grit. He reminds me of a smaller/bulkier Margarito.. constant pressure with a tough chin. That could cause problems with them dudes at 140.. since there is nobody at Jr. WW with that kind of style that can give anyone problems.
Riod does seem to take punches very well. I am curious to see if Acosta can hurt him.
Both Rios and Soto have tough fights up next, but that would be a great matchup as well.
The matchups at 140 would be insane as well.

Yup.. this fight can open up much bigger fights for either fighter. Rios wants to fight Soto next.. then move up to 140. It can get even better..
