both came from a blind spot with a massive left hook and both were bone crushing. i`m wondering if there is a striking difference with regards to foot position and setting-up prior to the execution. share your thoughts.:boxing:
Donaire's shot was from hook over Montiel's right hand. But Pwill run into the left straight wrecklessly. It's much more difficult to defend against Nonito's hook than SM's straight left. Martinez saw Paul running at him and threw his left hand. Nonito's hook was calculated precisely.
Nobody was "running". They were standing and traded shots, Martinez got the better of it. I didn't see any running in that exchange.
They both closed there eyes and swung wildly i call that lucky
you're lucky your mother decided not to abort you at the last second.
she already had a chicken leg bone raised and ready to strike her tummy when your dad, her cousin, came home from the circus.
Well, first of all their stances are different; Orthodox for Nonito and Southpaw for Sergio. Martinez was able to turn into his shot and use his body weight, where as Donaire was in an Orthodox stance, left leg forward (left jab), he got hit with a straight right, absorbed it like nothing, and countered with a nasty left cross/hook, it was more like a really powerful check hook (probably the nastiest check hook I can think of).

what nonito did was more calculated. nonito did an advanced move that roach explains in this video, except instead of hooking to the body, nonito hooked to the head.
what sergio did was throw the overhand left over and over again until he landed the money punch. and sergio wasn't countering the right hand, sergio was trading hooks with pwill and sergio's hook is better than pwill's.
I keep wondering how he's going to deal with Sergei's jab.
There's really no way to deal with that punch...it will ultimately be a matter of watching how many jabs Martinez can take before mentally bending.
Martinez's straight left was like a "cry to the heavens and hope it lands" shot.
Donaire seemed to know what he was doing when he landed that left hook.
Martinez threw all of his weight into that shot and had landed it prior. That shot was definitely not lucky.
judging also from their position when they did the shot, martinez was more like he was along the diagonal direction of pwill while that of donaire was more forward head-on. but i should say also that both montiel and pwill were coming forward and thus momentum making the shots more deadly. did donaire and martinez both sat on their shots? i say yes also.

Nah. Sergio's shot was not lucky. If you count the Ohhhsss and Aahhhss of the crowd, that would tell you how many of those type of shots Sergio landed. Very few can changed the trajectory mid-air .... pac and tszyu I think. Which is why their shots are very hard to categorize.

Martinez was landing that straight left the whole fight, and it was always landing. He knew when and where to throw it, no luck about it.
The major difference i see, besides that Martinez's shot put William's to sleep, is that people weren't expecting it.
No one knew what to expect with the Donaire/Montiel fight, Martinez and Williams had already been in a 12 round hard fought battle, nobody expected a KO that quickly.

Martinez shot was very different compared to Donaire.
Donaire shot is a counter left hook. The timing was beauty to behold though and it came full power from the hip.
SM shot is very hard to categorize if a hook/straight. He changed the trajectory midshot.
Both great shot but definitely different. Not many can pull off the Serg shot.
