News to me. I heard Kellerman call him a Filipino American, and decided to look it up, and hes actually been in America since he was 11, although he returned to the Phillipines briefy after his amateur career.
great to have another excellent American fighter:usa2:
Donaire is Donaire, it doesnt matter what his nationality is.
LOL@ this Nonito belongs to America thing. You have to wait till he is open for trade or something. So what can Americans trade with pinoys for Nonito? :D
Are there any Americans that have moved to the Phillipines?
you guys can take uh...Bundrage if you want.

The Hyphenated Citizen
Donaire is a typical case of the hyphenated-American, and always will be. That's the reality if you live in Canada or the US, and are not white. No matter how integrated you are, there will always be the question, "but where are you really from?"
I am not saying this is negative or positive. It is what it is. There is a good and bad side, but maybe this is how the world should be. A world where people move freely and have a mult-national, multi-ethnic identity. Maybe this is the foundation of peace in the planet.
he is Filipino! it is unfair to try and rip him away from his country just because America is DESPERATE for another Star since our ONLY ONE (Mayweather) is not boxing at the moment
Let the Filipino's have their moment! Donaire is obviously very proud to be Filipino and the flag they had in the ring after his win was a Philippine Flag not an American Flag...JUST SAYING!
Regardless! Donaire is a good fighter!

:usa2:
why did they call him Filipino Flash? :D :D
because Ricky Hatton is a hitman.
and Roberto Duran has hands made of stone.
and Robinson was made of sugar.
because theyre all true.
You do know that Donaire is also a FIlipino Citizen right? But who needs facts for this discussion right?
right, also.
hes both American and Filipino.
hence Filipino-American.
that sounds correct to me. I dont see how being white would stop him from being a citizen of the Phillipines. citizenship is all that matters when it comes to nationality, imo.
but everyone has their different opinion on that, Im sure.
You do know that Donaire is also a Filipino Citizen right? But who needs facts for this discussion right? Also what was that jibberish he was speaking after the fight? Wait was that tagalog?
:haha:
funny shyt!!!
"Kawayan! kawayan!!! sakay na aalis na, ten pesos lang!!!!!"
Later, "sige na, libre na lang!!!"
holy sh1t dude, they spoke it very fluently. :haha::haha:
