Will Donaire be as effective against a non-midget?

I'd think so. He adjust his range pretty quickly from what I see. And he does this on the defensive end as well. Montiel was figuring him out in round 2 and put out some very nice counters to Donaire. But Donaire was pretty quick not to overcommit on his punch on the next couple of sequences. Setting up very nice hook ( though eating a right before that :) ). His ability to adjust is what I think is his main advantage ... which would work regardless of size. Anyway, if he stays at 118, we could have our answer. Montiel is not the only P4P fighter in that division IMO. He is Donaire's "size" that and could give him fits. What I don't understand is people want Donaire to move up immediately. He was 8-9lbs below Montiel's weight on fight night. He need some time before moving up. Also, the 118 is rock solid. It is just a relative unknown division... but have names like "Perez , Moreno, Agbeko, Mares, Morel, Darchinyan, Cermeño".

We haven't really seen him fight BIG names except for Montiel and Vic for us to really judge but he has alot of potential.

He's very fast and slick, and him being smaller than his opponent might actually make more elusive and harder to hit. Whether he can still render taller guys unconscious is a different story. that maybe, or he could have problems adjusting to someone bigger than he is used to fighting at this point.

bolded part is exactly my point. i think he would have to adjust fighting a bigger man (aka, a non-midget) and might encounter difficulties but he has the skill to dominate even if he lost that advantage. people here are getting their panties in a knot. Bigger guys are generally a problem for everyone especially if they are really talented or just know how to fight big. He is short with his punches though so if he pays attention to his range he should be able to be effective against anyone because from that position (his range) he will have an advantage over about anyone then from there he may have other advantages to also exploit. It won't be a big problem for a while anyway since he possesses good size for even 126

As a matter of fact featherweights like Gamboa and Juanma are also that height. Donaire is so good it doesnt even matter. He could ktfo out of Marquez and Mayweather tomorrow if they sign the contract.

2 inches difference is da real deal! Who would've know those 2 inches were the decisive factor why Montiel was KTFO in 2 rounds. All other factors like talent, timing, training, skill to pull off the punch, Ring IQ, etc got thrown out the window. Maybe Yao Ming should switch to boxing. He got them heights! Or maybe because Montiel is too OLD? He is 31.

I know you aren't complaining, it's the bitter haters who I am referring to. But going back on topic, Nonito has the skills to beat opponents who are just as tall or taller than him. He'll have a bit of a tough time against Eric Morel and Anselmo Moreno but I can see him KOing both. He would destroy Eric Morel. But, Anselmo Moreno would be a different story.
