He fights Marcos Maidana in a rematch; look, im not here to say I know everything that goes on behind the scenes: but why is Maidana is fighting Morales; why is Ortiz fighting Berto; i'm so sick and tired of fighters mentioning each others name and going off to fight someone else: I believe right after his fight with Vivian Harris, Ortiz mentioned he wanted a rematch with Maidana: I understand Maidana was already set to fight Khan, so Ortiz had no choice but to take a fight with Lamont Peterson on the undercard: but what excuse is there to make afterwards; neither fight was signed on for any fights after that December card; if I was Ortiz, I wouldve pushed for a Maidana rematch to redeem himself right then and there; I dont buy this crap about promoters picking out your opponents: Ortiz I believe can sway Golden Boy into putting him in a rematch with Maidana: im sure Maidana would love to prove he can beat him again; so Ortiz should just shut up or put up; the little stunt he pulled after the first fight was horrible: he can win every one of his fights from this point forward; however, if he doesnt fight Maidana again, he will never erase that stain and fully redeem himself: anyone share that same opinion?
How did Ortiz even get the title shot at Berto in the first place?, he wasn't even in the 147 division and couldn't beat the two best fighters he faced at 140. Did Berto pick Ortiz because he thought it would be a easy win?. I was just thinking about this, ha its weird how things can happen in Boxing because at the time of the Peterson fight things wasn't looking too good for Ortiz.
ortiz hs in fact asked maidana for a rematch and maidana turned it down. how can u say a fighter is scared of another when he asks for a rematch? u guys are very simple minded.
I would love to see a rematch sometime in the next year or 2, would be a great fight again like the first first. I think Maidana wins again but who knows if Maidana will be a force at 147?.
nobody quitted in that.............aforementioned matchup............
yep...............what strugg said.............. or some thing like that......................................................................................
I would love to see the rematch, I think it would be up for fight of the year if it ever took place. BTW, why is it that the need for redemption only applies to certain fighters. For example I see people say that Cotto needs to rematch Margarito, but no one trips of the fact that Margarito doesn't seem interested in a rematch with Mosely. Why is that?
You're both wrong. Marcos Maidana said, "I would be more than happy to give him the rematch since I know how to fight him now." Victor Ortiz however, decided to fight shot Antonio Díaz instead.
You're an idiot that quote was at the post presser...After that Ortiz wanted to set it up...Maidana said no...
Maidana doesn't want it! Ortiz offered him his payday for the rematch...he would fight Maidana for free and Maidana said NO...
Thats bollox about the payday but I do believe Ortiz has offered him a rematch and Maidana turned it down

To me, I just think Maidana is refusing a rematch with Ortiz for the sheer fact he wants Khan more than anything else: he sees as 'I already beat you once, why should I rush into a rematch with you'...I think he's just sitting back on it, and exploring his options elsewhere: but I think, the same way he's treating Ortiz, Khan is treating him: so Maidana, would be best off to pursue other fights at 140, he doesnt necessarily have to rematch Ortiz at this moment, but he should really stop pursuing Khan for a while..

Victor Ortiz will not fight Marcos Maidana again because he is just scared to death at him. The only reason why they chose to fight Maidana in the first is because they thought Maidana was someone that he could beat.

Victor Ortiz, in my eyes, will never redeem himself UNLESS.. | BoxingScene Community
