guys just look at this video of a young zab before he started to rely on power. the guy used to beable to throw over 900 punches a fight. he used to put the combinations together better then pac and mayweather. he could have been a real star.

Better than Pacquiao okay you made my laugh for the day to be better than Pac you have to be able to fight more than 4 rounds. Just because some throws fast patty cake flurries dosn't make you a better fighter.
Zab Judah had the attributes and fundamentals to be an elite boxer. However, one thing that always stood out was Judah never had the mentality to become a real force. He has a deep underlying problem within, I dont think he had the self belief like top fighters - this is something all ATG's had. Judah strikes me as a man who was a great athlete but lacked mental ability to become something of note. Also, discipline is an absolutely must to make to elite level, something Judah lacked.
Some say Judah is a waste of talent, I'd argue he didn't have inner self belief to make to the top. You can have the physical attributes, but someone who is more mentally driven will beat you. Look at the Mayweather fight, Judah had a great level of success early on, but lost focus in the second half, again Judah lacking discipline..
IMO his timing isn't all that when he has volume VS him, but the fact that he couldn't take pressure was another problem.
Zab is not versatile enough.
end thread////////////
Watch Cotto vs Judah then Cotto vs Pacquiao and you'll see the different between an all time great, a hall of famer and a talented boxer.
Pac = ATG
Cotto = HOF
Judah = Talented boxer
Pacquiao is miles above Judah and it's not even comparable, look at the punches he throws compared to Judah, Judah always looks for left upper cut between gloves, has a weak jab which he barely uses and doesn't use his straight left. Then you watch Pacquiao throwing lefts like they are jabs and throwing every punch in the book.
This always comes up with Judah. Physical ability isn't even the most important part of boxing, it's mostly mental. If Judah were really that good, he would never let a guy like Baldomir beat him. Plain and simple.

Zab had potential galore and for the most part he cashed in on his potential.
He simply was never a world class fighter. He's just not elite.
He's right beneath the level of elite. Not too many club or even average fighters have defeated Judah.
Zab was too arrogant and thick headed to get a real trainer.
Had Zab toned his arrogance down and hired a guy like Roach or Manny then he would have been able to defeat the elite.
Hell, he was competitive with Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto with just RAW ABILITY.
But hey that's his fault for not being WISER.
nope not true..his defense was never really good and he didnt have a great variety of punches..he was quick..yes..had power yes..thats bout it..his mentality is frail and he doesnt have a high ring i.q

Ye if you did a brain transplant on him yes he could have been better.
Zab only had one problem, lack of Focus.
He'll fight beutifully, then some how he would lose his concentration. I don't know if his Dad cause that or he's just not mentally tough. But he definitely had the potential to #1 P4P right now.
Could have, should have, would have. If he isn't, it's his own fault for not having the devotion or the heart to be great. Well his fault and his father's for being a limited trainer anyways.
