So, I am new to the world of boxing and as a consequence missed the careers of MAB, Morales and JMM etc.
Just caught a couple of JMM's older fights + a greatest hits video and realised:
****ing hell, that guy was a monster! How accurate were his punches? Also, how many angles did he throw from? The speed was incredible!
I'll admit, I began watching the lighter weight classes thanks to Amir Khan. So my sense of perspective is limited.
And as much as I do like Khan and Bradley etc. I shudder to think what would've happened if these guys had got into the ring with JMM back when he was younger.
I'm sure I'll unearth information on many other greats of boxing, but so far I can say that I've never seen anyone throw like I saw JMM throw, especially when it came to pure exchanges.
Damnit, why didn't I get into boxing earlier? I could've seen all his fights live.

Now that you saw what JMM can do and that he is a warrior until the end how can you digest watching him vs Gayweather without giving him a war...???????????????????????????
Also, the size difference between Mayweather and Marquez was so vast, it was almost comical.
Marquez had just come up from 130, to 135 where he had fought Casamayor, then Diaz. And he struggled with both guys before ultimately knocking them out late in the fight.
A lot of people (myself included) thought Marquez had no business at 135, let alone 147 where he fought Floyd.
Then Mayweather comes in 2lbs over the 147lbs weight, which puts him at 149.
Not to mention Mayweather refused to be weighed in on fight night, and come opening bell, Mayweather looked like a bonafide Junior Middleweight.
Anybody who says the size difference in that fight didn't matter is more than likely, a Mayweather nuthugger.
That said, I think Mayweather taxes Marquez at ANY weight. But to say the vast disparity in size between the two didn't matter, is truly an exercise in ignorance.
Yeah. I love JMM. But I gotta' admit: When he fought Floyd he was exposed to a degree. Everyone talks about the size differential, but I think it was more to do with class. JMM looks best when he's engaging with his opponent. When he's forced to fight a technical fight, he's sorta' screwed. Which is why I've heard he lost his fight with Chris John. I didn't see the fight, but even his own corner said he lost. Taking nothing away from the man.........he's a helluva' warrior, and great for boxing fans. Just one step below "elite" level.
So you admit then that you know nothing of the topic on which you speak?
Marquez got robbed in that fight, just watch it. John did nothing except run and jab, all night long. It was a farce.

That's the best way to approach Marquez, to throw few punches and move, don't allow him to get set; decrease his counter punching opportunities. Marquez, Floyd and Norwood to a certain degree did that. Although Norwood clearly lost in my opinion, Norwood gave him problems. I wouldn't say he's below elite level. In the bold, I'd say he looks better when his opponents are trying to engage him.

No. It was an exercise in size and weight disparity. More skilled? I'm not so sure, he just uses his natural range attributes to the maximum. If Floyd were Marquez' size, and he didn't have that ridiculous reach, he wouldn't be as successful as he is.

There's no shame in losing to Floyd. It certainly doesn't expose anything about JMM, other than the fact that he is inferior to the best boxer in the world today. And Marquez should have got the nod against John in my opinion. You can download the fight in the video section and decide for yourself. Marquez is a certain Hall of Famer and still one of the 10 best fighters P4P in the sport. What more does it take to be elite?

yeah thats why he didnt campaign in higher weights like pacquiao did,
coz he knows he is fading. he needs more money fight and easy fight. he is
nearly on ending of his career. maybe next year his name is mixed with
bradley and khan 140 campaign if he can make it.
Uhh it's not "mouthing off". He ACTUALLY DRINKS PISS. YouTube it.
Irrelevent. So he drinks piss. Big deal. Does he make you drink piss? No?
I'm talking about his boxing, movement and combinations.
Marquez is an aztec sex god warrior.
Anybody who fails to recognize this shall be sentenced to death via triple uppercut to the face. (Ala' Juan Diaz)
fixed. :439:
More like two jabs, a left hook and a cross. He does that.
The triple uppercut he landed on Diaz was more gangsta.
But when it comes to Marquez - everything he does in the ring is gangsta.
