i had it a draw & that was being nice to jose.....
I had it 58-56 Benavidez.
1st round was his, he landed a lot more. 2nd was a close round, Benavidez started slow, but I think he definitely stole it in the last minute. 3rd was clearly Rodriguez round. Benavidez tried to steal it again, but did not do enough in the first 2:30 minutes. 4th another close round, gave it to Benavidez. 5th again Benavidez, he did well behind his close guard and threw more than the 2 rounds before. 6th round a close one again, gave it to Rodriguez for his activity and aggressiveness.
All in all way more close than it should be for a highly touted prospect against an unknown 5-1 fighter, but I think he can learn a lot from this and his first boos should not hurt him. Could be a helpful experience. But he is not ready for longer fights yet, if those body punches took such a toll on him.
And it was fun to see how the Top Rank commentators had to react from their early downtalking of Rodriguez, that guy made a lot of fans that night.
The only thing that worries me about the fight is that Benavidez could not effectively hurt his opponent. Not even those vicious body punches from the first round seemed to bother Rodriguez too much...
wow. at best i had that fight a draw. no wonder why some were complaining.....many were even booing when the decision was read...
jose won that fight,But didnt look good. But then again he is only 18.
this is what I've been hearing. i have been trying to find his last bout but it is no where to be found...i have searched EVERYWHERE but no where to be found. i wanted to see if it was really true......its funny that i can find all of joses fights but not this one. if anyone have the vid please feel free to post......

It's the video on the right, it should say "Benavidez Jr. Vs. Rodriguez."
I like Bernavidez, I heard he even beat Khan in sparring but a few things on him.
His defence is very open since he is always on the attack.
I haven't seen any of his pro fights mind you.
His work rate is damn high, a bit like Juan Diaz, but does he have power? Can he do it for 12? I know he is damn young, but he needs to learn to coast a round when he's won it.
Thirdly, he left the Wild Card some reason, is his dad a good trainer?
Not true at all, he has a nice tight guard. I've seen all but one of his pro fights, including his debut on a Top Rank Live card. You can see examples of his D in an actual match here:
Kid is the truth, can definitely see him being the top name in the sport in the future.
kid needs to work on his stamina tho... heard he gased in his last fight.
Benavidez is the real deal. Can't wait to see him against solid opposition. Definately one to watch.
On the subject of the defence being taught at the Wild Card, I have to agree that it isn't exactly watertight and the Wild Card fighters seem to be particularly vunerable to the uppercut. While the technique isn't watertight though, it does allow fighters to prepare for the impact of punches during an offensive blitz from an opponent. I can see a benefit to that, especially for a chinny fighter like Khan.
Good vid. Pac was clowning though, but the kid has got some skill. Gotta say Pac hit the kid with 2 beautiful counter right hooks. His right hand has got a lot better over the years.
i hope he doesnt let his dad continue training him cause we all know how that turns out all the time.
But Calzaghe and Trinidad worked out just fine:nana:
