roy jones jr has NO legacy at 160,,168,,175 or over 200 pounds because he never fought the elite fighters at any weight division he boxed in.
roy jones jr won a vacant middleweight title and made 1 defence he never fought the best at 160 at that time
John David Jackson
Chris Pyatt and he Ducked the two elite fighters of the division Julian Jackson and Gerald McClellan
A list of the elite fighters at 168 that roy jones was Ducked when he was in that division
Graciano Rocchigiani
Steve Collins 2 weight champion at the time
Nigel Benn 2 weight champion at the time
Michael Nunn 2 weight champion at the time
chris eubank 2 weight champion at the time
Charles Brewer
Frankie Liles
Robin Reid
BEST at 175 was Dariusz Michalczewsk
roy jones won the vacant wbc title vacanted by Fabrice Tiozzo.
Fabrice Tiozzo lost his wba title to Virgil Hill then came back and beat Mike McCallum for the WBC light heavyweight title.
Dariusz Michalczewski beat Virgil Hill for the undisputed light heavyweight championship and holds the record for the most consecutive successful title defenses at light heavyweight 23 defenses. He was champ for 9 years an had a incredible 48 and 0 winning run
roy jones ducked prime Dariusz Michalczewski for 8 years and did not fight him even when he was shot
why did jones fight 35yo taver instead of Michalczewski?...........
why did jones fight ruiz instead of lennox lewis?..........
roy jones legacy will be remembered as the most protected fighter in history and a drugs cheating, chinny weight hopper that ain,t got a division to claim
Dariusz Michalczewski
joe calzaghe
lennox lewis and bernard hopkins can all claim to be the best fighers in their divisions history.
Too the people that hype on about prime jones jr take off the rose tinted glasses he lost too a bunch of old guys anyway
Antonio Tarver was 35
Glen Johnson 35
Danny Green 35
Bernard Hopkins 45 and joe calzaghe was 36 and at the very end of his career.
prime roy jones jr was “unstoppable” you could not stop the guy from Ducking and Dodging fighters but the beatings he was Ducking and Dodging caught up with him.
because ottke ducked calzaghe you cant make a fighter fight mayweather will tell you that
how about chad dawson, kelly pavlik, glen johson, did they duck joey too?
it's funny how people bash rjj for fighting ruiz instead of lewis lol
why didn't calzaghe fight sven ottke?20 defenses,unbeaten...
because ottke ducked calzaghe you cant make a fighter fight mayweather will tell you that
*Paging Reed, paging IMDAZED, paging -Kev-, Siggrab jr*
Come on...the dude put Jorge Castro in his first line as someone Roy avoided. I had to 'x' out after that.
*False alarm, I repeat, False alarm*
:rofl::rofl:
Its funny when people bring up the fraud that is RJJ's legacy, you have to bring up calzaghe. Just shows how wrong you are.
I brought him up because the thread starter has zaghes nuts hanging on his chin
RJJ's legacy consists of 2 legit wins. A prime toney and Bhop. He's an HBO fraud. Fun to watch, but a bum killer.
Coming from someone with Joe Calzaghe in their signature!
It's funny how people always expect fighters to do more..
Going from MW all the way up to HW to win a strap in itself is a great achievement.. first one to do it in 106 years
But haters will always demand more
Beating Ruiz was not enough, the former middleweight was to go beat Tyson, then after that he had to beat Lewis
Even if he beat Lewis, haters would demand he go back in time and destroy prime Ali, Louis, Holmes, Foreman :nonono:

why did calzaghe fight shot jones instead of young and prime chad dawson?
eh, no he fought nunn at 160 actually, dammit, i need to use boxrec more
he beat pretty much everyone there was to beat at supermiddleweight which was a fairly empty division, besides the protected english men(more so eubank) :)Calling Benn protected is just about is just as stupid as calling Toney the GOAT at 168 ..pure stupidity imo ;)
he had wins over Barkley, Williams, Thorton and Littles though.
those were really good wins right there, not to mention his accomplishments at 160lbs.
the other top guys were Benn, Eubank and Nun...one of those he already had a win over, and I dont see how Eubank or Benn should have been higher than Toney at the time.
Well Benn Beat Barkley, Williams, and some of Toneys other notable wins well before Toney did tho ! I am not claiming Benn or Eubank would of beat james but to claim Toney was the best at 168 when he didnt really face anybody at that weight is pure nonsense imo :boxing:
Before I joined this forum I used to think Jones was one of the best ever and the more I read into things and understand facts the less and less I think of him as time goes on.
He did have a solid run at 175 and the Toney win was probably the best of his career.
Its disheartening how many excuses he made about weight when even though he won but didn't look great against Tarver the 1st time.
I am not going to get into it but I have on several occasions busted this "he lost 20lbs of muscle myth" as a reason why he lost the rematch.
i dont get it, were u expecting him to look great and still use the weight excuses?
NAh, Jones is the best fighter since SRL. By far.
He is better than Floyd(no offense) and ****s all over Pac(sorry). Hopkins can't beat him in their primes and neither could Toney. Haters going to hate.
By the way, you need to do more research, Johnson has won more title fights than 1, cmon man, get right before you post
:wt:Glen Johnson won 2 tltle fights big deal it just show how great roy jones jr was….haha!
No JRambo, it just shows that you never liked Roy. Problem with haters is it blinds them to give credit where its due. He just came off getting ko'd by Tarver, four months later, he didnt fight well. Johnson is a roughneck, a tough customer and a fine champion. Losing to Glen Johnson leaves no bad credit to me. Ali lost to Leon Spinks in Spinks 8th pro fight. Nothing you say has any relevance whatsoever. Your just a hater. HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY!
