Floyd Mayweather used a lot of dirty tactics in his fights. He relies on these tricks because his boxing ability has flaws.
Some people think he is a pure boxer an pugilist, he far from that.
Ok first up we have the "forearm choke", as in the Hatton fight and other, we have seen use this maneuverer in clinches.
Floyd to stop his opponent from working on the inside would initiate the clinch, hold with one arm while using the free forearm and pushing it up into his opponent's throat. These clinches slow the fight down and the forearm in the throat looks to choke his opponent and sap their energy.
Next up we have Mayweather straight right, many think this is a great pure punch by Mayweather but watch what he does when he throws it.
Most of the time he throws it it a counter, leans back to avoid the shot then throws the right, lands it then the follow through tying his opponent up with the free arm, stopping the action.
It is just a hit and hold technique, not pure boxing now is it?
Ducking under the belt line, Mayweather does do this though he hasn't that much in his recent fights, not really queensbury now. This also just show the the back of his head to his opponent, and even if a glancing blow catches him he makes the most of it.
Mayweather can also turn his back on opponents when the punches are flying. This is one thing the referees should crack down.
You should be facing your opponent at all times, when a fighter is starts doing this he is just running trying to stop the action not good for the fans and it is not boxing.
Floyd uses spoiling tactics as apart of his fight game, is there any that I have missed out?
Name one fighter who never tried a few illegal tactics? It's not a fvcking tea party!
Pacman doesn't use any cheating tactics..
;)

If Pac gets in that ring thinking floyd is only able to forearm or straight right, he is in a world of trouble i tell u.
I wonder if the guy who used Willie Pep as an example of a "pure boxer" realizes that both Pep and Sandy Saddler were suspended for their fouling tactics in what is generally considered one of the dirtiest fights ever.
Yea I know that is why I used that example, it doesn't matter how great a boxer you are if you run into someone who is going to get down and dirty with you you have to play to survive.
Just boxing in such a situation is not playing to win. Although getting thrown out isn't really playing to win either but on one level it is because between both men they are not letting the other guy get over on the other, thus not letting them achieve victory through their tactics.
James Toney is a pretty clean when fighting on the inside.
Surprising, Riddick Bowe was pretty clean also when fighting on the inside, except for his tendency to hit low (this came wherever distance he was at). It's funny that someone as dirty as Bowe was as clean as he was on the inside. His fouls weren't something he constantly used to help him get an edge, he was just a hothead who fouled for the hell of it.
Yea there are different reason people foul, lack of discipline would be Bowe.
Toney is a pretty good example though.
If a fighter fights with their head they almost always do the spoiling tricks, because it is stupid not to use them especially since those fouls are very rarely penalized (even more so if you are good at hiding it). As opposed to butts and low blows which are very often accidents, it is kind of twisted that way.
I am sucker for those who really play to win though, I guess.
If you dont like the way he fights, why dont you go to his gym and have a talk with Roger Mayweather? I'm sure he'd love to hear your suggestions, and might get you a spot in Team Mayweather....
Can you fight inside in a manner that doesn't get you beat up without using some form of dirty tactic?
Floyd certainly is a spoiler, his best works always comes in the form of breaking guys mentally.

Whitaker would clinch, hold and hit, walk back his opponents by digging his right shoulder into their body and getting the leverage of his body behind it to walk them into the ropes while he dug left hands to the body (and below the belt).
Exactly right, Whitakers inside game was very underrated, he got the better of Chavez in that department even if he was a bit past prime its a great feat.

Ali always clinched his opponents on the inside and pushed down his weight on their neck. Those are spoiling tactics.

Exactly, but they don't claim to be pure boxer.
A pure boxer, boxes not not spoils.

Floyd is just one of many fighters, some of whom are labeled as "pure boxers", to spoil or fight dirty. It's really nothing new at all.
I wasn't talking to you but if you agree with them on what they said then that goes for you
For as all the rest of that **** you talking... its a fight. Its boxing. Bodies will bump, heads will be used, punches will throw, elbows connect and holding will happen
Yes it goes on but that is using wrestling skills and other combat skills that are not boxing and that why it is not pure boxing.
And personally I don't like to watch fights where dirty tactics come in to play, they don't make for good fights.
Take Hopkins he boxed brilliantly against Pascal, Tarver and Pavlik, and didn't go down the dirty tactics route and they were great fights to watch.
And against Calzaghe and RJJ II he used every dirty and spoiling tactic he could and they were dreadful fights to watch.

Pac been knocked out and knocked down several times
The pure boxer huh lmao
Fail, dont waste ya time going back and forth cause you wont win like Pac in those 3 losses lmao
Yes Sven Ottke was also unbeaten, Floyd must be in his class.
Armstrong and SRR were beaten and stopped, Pacquiao must be in there class.
Shame on you for using that argument.
How about see if you can contradict my original point, or is that beyond you.
while floyd has avoided that by ducking the best fighters in his weight class from 140 to 147

U sir, are a clown. Its obvious you don't know the fight game too well. Boxing is more than throwing your hands. If that's the case all these bar room tough guys would be world champions. "Pure boxing" as u say relies on angles, feints, body placement, distance, etc. Everything u claim Floyd does as "dirty" is actually tame. Legends like Hagler, Evander, Frazier, Norton, and even Hopkins all live by the hit them in the "knees, nose, and elbows" mantra. Its a combat sport. Get it how u can in the squared circle.
And since he's so dirty, please reference a time Floyd hit someone low or headbutted them.
Also pin your excuses down to one thing. Your hate for Floyd got u guys all over the place. First you claim he's a "no balls having runner who won't sit in the pocket". Now "you wanna watch boxing and not someone ramming elbows in opponents faces and hold and hitting". Not only is Floyd a psychic by knowing the drug test issue would be the hang up in negotiations, but now he the only fighter in history who can run and not engage, but be close enough to hold and hit. Simply amazing!
Answer the question.
Does Floyd use his elbow and forearms when fighting on the inside?
Is this allowed in the rules of boxing?
Does Floyd throw the straight right and then hold to stop his opponent throwing?
Is holding(wrestling) allowed in the rules of boxing?
Has Floyd ducked bellow his opponent waist line and turn his back on his opponent?
Is this allowed in the rules of boxing?
Floyd uses these things as apart of his tactics.
Floyd spoils, he boxes as well but he is also a spoiler, he is not a pure boxer.
I have made statements of fact, all backed up and given my reasons for my conclusions.
Just because other boxer have used dirty tactics as well does not make my statements about Floyd false.
the threadmaker is an idiot and a hater
If i'm the idiot what does that make you?
You can't even come up with a counter argument to dismiss my claim.
In fact everything I said is backed up, and you just need to watch Floyd fight to see he does these thing.
Maybe your love for Floyd has blinded you to the truth.
Come back when you have a decent argument to dismiss my claim or at least try to contribute to the thread instead of throwing around playground insult.
I see it very different a pure boxer, does not need to break the rules and relies on his striking ability and the skill he employs to avoid punches, be that be slipping punches, head movement footwork or guard.
Granted Floyd has the defence part down but he has decent striking ability, good accuracy and speed but lack variety and combos.
He has great striking ability did you seem him I'n every class below 147 he had great combos an great speed foot work an his defense ic classic
And as for his elbow when he used it he would push of and work the body or LANd that lead right that doesn't make it dirty or a trick it's just smart part of being a pure boxer is smarts that's damn near the whole part anybody can punch or slip a punch but can they be smart like Floyd.
Another thing he just adapted his elbow technique to his weight class and fighting on the inside think about it he's a small welter and needs that I'n side technique to or to fall I'n after the right hand he has no power other wise lol

But Floyd also relies on the dirty part of the game.
Floyd inside game is bad, and thats why he needs these dirty spoiling tactics, which the ref should be having words with him about.
I want to watch boxing not someone ramming there forearm in there opponents face and punch and hold.
