Why is Donaire so heavily favored by the boxing public?

I do see how he coasts at times in his past fights against lesser competition. However, with Donaire, Montiel will have to stay focused the whole fight... Donaire will make sure of it. If Montiel tries to coast through this fight Donaire will remind him with some nice hard counters.. IMO. I'm pretty sure both fighters are up for this one.. probably the biggest fight of both of their careers. true... if montiel doesn't get up for this fight, I dunno what type of fight he'll get up for...

You doubters better give Montiel his due when he beats Donaire this weekend.

true, montiel can box, but IMHO he is in love with his power so he coasts sometimes when he should be busier. but I guess that is the puncher's curse. His size. Donaire looks a bit hulking at bantamweight. Montiel's resume craps on Donaire's and maybe he should be getting a bit more respect. But I can't see him beating a physically imposing bantamweight like Donaire. Donaire looks like he brought some serious power with him when he moved up in weight. His punches will get stronger when he moves up further north. I believe he can go as high as JrWW.

This is a 50/50 fight. Both can be hit and they have KO power. However, Montiel is the better finisher. Donaire is probably the worst finisher in boxing today. I know he has been knocking out his opponents but do you guys noticed how when he has an opponent hurt he does not put his punches together and have the ref stop it. His fights are usually stopped after he knocks his opponents down several times (ex. Hernan Marquez, Raul Martinez, Sidorenko) or usually by completely knocking them out (ex. Darchinyan, Vargas). Even in his fight with Concepcion he hurt the guy several times but he threw single punches no combo. That is strange... I see him throw a lot of combos in his fights (2-3 punches).

It's not about resumes, it's about who is the more skillful and talented fighter. How many people thought Andre Ward will be dominating the Super 6, when he hadn't faced anyone notable? I like Donaire in this fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if Montiel wins this. It's a 50/50 fight to me.

Ur right tho he'd have been better prepared for this if he'd had better opposition of late Still a Stoppage win for Donaire seems inevatable to me Don't get me wrong. My money is on Donaire. Donaire is too quick and too skilled for Montiel to try and box him. So Cucholito is going to have to brawl him. Unfortunately, when he brawls, he gets really wild and leaves himself open to counters. Donaire's gonna pick him apart with the counter hook. KO 7.

I think Montiel is over rated and has been lucky a few times now, Donaire has the edge in every department. I dont even think it will be overly competetive I wonder if Donaire will be ready for the level of competition that Montiel will bring. He hasn't exactly fought top competition over the last few years.
