GL: What's the latest and greatest? When can we expect you back in the ring? "
AB: The latest and greatest is, I'm doing what I do. Working and running. I'm right now in a negotiation with a few guys and hopefully I'll be back in there in early April."
GL: One of the guys coming up is Victor Ortiz. What can you tell us about that?
AB: "I've been hearing about the Victor Ortiz situation and at the end of the day I think it would be a very entertaining fight. He's a young, strong fighter and he brings the action, and you know I love the action. We also have a couple of other names we're negotiating with as well."
GL: Such as?
Andre Berto: "Such as we're keeping them under wraps for now."
GL: Is Kermit Cintron one of them? I ask because there was a tremendous buzz over the fight and now it seems to have died out. Is he one of the other names?
AB: "It going cold so quickly basically shows where Kermit Cintron is. Realistically we're just going to keep it moving. I wish him all the best, we're going to keep it moving forward."
GL: What do you think about Victor Ortiz as a fighter? Are you concerned that fighting him could lead to a lot of media backlash?
AB: "I thought hard about it and I'm going to get criticism and backlash regardless of who I fight. If it's any of the top 140 pounders coming up or one of the older guys that are still in the division, it will be because they are old. I don't think people will realistically will be fully satisfied until they see me step in there with a Pacquiao or Mayweather. That shows a lot of credibility to where people view me as a fighter. But then again, they don't want to give me full credit. I'm going to continue to get backlash and criticism regardless, this is the boxing game and it comes with the territory."
GL: Do you have any comment on the Alexander-Bradley fight?
AB: "It was a good fight. HBO wanted the fight for a while, the fans wanted it for a while. I think it was an entertaining fight while it lasted.
GL: Oh, so entertaining is the adjective you would use?
AB: (laughs) "It was a fight that everybody wanted to see. I don't think it lived up to too much of the hype, but the guys came in great shape and I know everybody was looking forward to a twelve round bang out, but they took a different approach and both guys fought smart."
GL: When should there be detailed information on your next move?
AB: "We're in negotiations right now. When we come back in the ring it's going to be something that hasn't been seen in the States for a long time on how we're going to make this thing happen and how we're going to try and change the boxing game."
GL: Closing thoughts?
AB: "Like always, I'm living on the grind. New Year, new things."
Cintron ruins fights and that is what a couple of people (Berto fans are not) are getting at. People talk about how disappointed with the let down that Alexander-Bradley was and whenever Cintron fights you are in for a let down with one of his cunt stunts. But yet people want to see Cintron get another shot at a big opportunity on HBO when he specializes in tarnishing fights in some way or another.
Does Berto look like a bitch for not wanting to fight him? Yeah, sort of maybe. But if Berto tried to get a fight with Cotto and Cotto went and fought Mayorga then how can you blame Berto for that? I liked the fight with Randall Bailey more than the one with Victor Ortiz even though that fight isn't very good either because at least he doesn't act like a ho like Cintron and Ortiz do. Berto is in a situation right now of where the division just aint that good. Just wish HBO wouldn't pay him so much.
This is a great post and completely echoes my sentiments.
The simple fact is this; Cintron represents the best challenge for Berto right now, with his power, size and decent boxing skills.
Now, you can either go with the risk that Cintron will mentally implode again (I don't think he will because not even Cintron would get intimidated by someone like Berto, and from all the smack talking, he seems very confident he will beat him)....or we blacklist Cintron and instead see more opponents like Hernandez for Berto.

Cintron completely neutralized Williams with his jab. He was actually this close to KOing Williams. It could have been his career defining win. Why would he purposely jump out in order to get a win in a way no would ever give him credit for? This is a man who boxes for a living. It's total BS. I just don't get where the hate is coming from.
The other thing people are complaining about is how he acted after beating the **** out of Jesse Feliciano. Who ****ing cares? He had already won. And there's the Margarito fights. He got KO'd and went back for more punishment with a second fight. I see no reason to disrespect him for that. Plus who knows how fair those fights were considering the plaster controversy.
Why do people keep on acting like Cintron jumped out on purpose? He got KO'd by Martinez, but wanted to keep on going. Now people are accusing him of quiting in the Williams fight after people *****ed at him for not wanting to quit in the Martinez fight.
Cintron did absolutely nothing wrong in the Martinez fight. You're redirecting your anger from a ref's bad call and the judges' bad decision towards Cintron. It's wasn't Cintron's fault that the fight wasn't stopped. It was the ref's fault. It wasn't Cintron's fault that Martinez didn't win in the scorecards. It was the judges' fault. Cintron was dazed by a punch and thought was it headbutt. He got the ko'd by Martinez so I can't blame Cintron for being confused. That's why we have refs in the ring to make the calls. The fighter's themselves don't get to decide whether a fight keeps on going or not. That's what refs do. And just like any hungry fighter that gets dropped, he'll want to keep on going given the chance. I can't blame him for that either.
Frank Chao saw that sh1t live. Kermit the frog knew what was coming when Williams started applying the pressure, reminiscent to Margaritos pressure, and folded...then hopped out of the ring, like a coward.
All he had to do was put his arms up or down, what ever the Fck he wanted to do and he couldn't FFS!

Pffft...
I been accused of being a flomo and a pactard....Beat that...
I really don't know how that works.
I can beat that. I've been told I'm just a PR hater and probably an angry Mexican.
Anyone have a YT link on that? I want to watch that again :lol1:
You have to watch the whole fight though. Loved the way Cintron "gutted it out."
Seriously, broken hands are pretty common but he fell as if he punctured a lung or something. :nonono:

That's how this board is. So when you come at it straight ahead and not as a d*ckrider then obviously you're a fan of that guy. Case in point, because I think Cintron is a clown who doesn't deserve a shot, I'm a Berto fanboy. Along with being a flomo. This board is hilarious sometimes.

Thats the real fight too. I see people on here saying that Berto ducked Cotto. Its like when you don't like someone the truth isnt required to form reasons to hate.
Goes to show what hate can do when people won't acknowledge the obvious, Boxingscene man...:lol1:

Its quite exhausting at times honestly. Berto has his faults and people have a right to be critical of some of his choices. Whats going on these days though is people are just making up reason to hate on the guy lol.

It is what it is man. Too bad, as it makes everything else that much worse.
It really sucks because it should be Berto who should be fighting Pac next. But, oh well....
I kind of like the Cintron fight. Because, to me it will show where Berto is at as a fighter. If he can't beat Cintron then he is not a top fighter
Cintron also has the style and power to really give Berto tons of problems. Only guys who are the truth can beat Cintron TBH.
I think Berto can beat Cintron, I just like Berto intangibles more. He's more of a fighter than what Cintron is. When the tough gets going Cintron is very weak however Berto has showed he will fight back. Especially in the Collazo fight in the championship rounds.
Now I understand why HBO and people don't want Cintron on the network. I get it what Cintron has pulled in some of his fights are just head scratching events.
However, who will Berto fight is the question. If he fights another Hernandez level fighter and is ON HBO. Then you can't tell me that is better than a Cintron fight. If he fights Ortiz or one of the other title holders then fine. But, if it's a Joe Blow or even a Kotelnik I will smh on that move. Especially if it is on HBO.
I do hope HBO takes a stand across the board not on just certain fighters.
I do understand where your coming from in regards to wanting to see Berto against decent opposition. In the future, if Mabuza stops Judah (I think he will), and no other JWW fights him due to his size, how you feel about that fight?

They don't want to acknowledge that, Berto isn't the guy who came out and said "I'm not interested in Cotto".
