Who has fought the better oppoenets at Heavyweight.
Haye
-Tomasz Bonin
-Monte Barrett
-Nikolay Valuev
-John Ruiz
-Audley Harrison
Adamek
-Andrew Golota
-Jason Estrada
-Chris Arreola
-Michael Grant
-Vinny Maddalone
I agree with most on here. Considering Adamek has been a HW for less time I would say Adamek definitely has more balls than Haye. The problem with the argument is that Haye has fought these past prime highly decorated fighters, and Adamek has chosen live less decorated opponents.
Balls: Adamek
Resume: Haye (by very little)
A match between Adamek and Haye would be great. Who do you guys call to win this fantasy match? I would say Haye by knockout.
Poor Adamek with a bit more size and power he could be a real threat at HW.......
First of all, lets get one thing straight. Monte Barrett is no gatekeeper. He is a journeyman, a bum, a washed up check casher. Thats it. Sure he didnt follow the script against Tua, but come on the guys a bum and he just exposed Tua as the same. A gatekeeper is someone like Arreola, Chambers, Peter etc...someone whom if you beat then you are ready for a title shot. The problem with the HW division is the Klitschko's are so dominant, very active (if you take them as one entity), and are where the money lies, that gatekeepers arent being used and instead the Klitschko's are bipassing the gatekeepers and picking opponents. A guy like Solis should have to beat a Sam Peter...not a Ray Austen. A guy like chisora should have to beat an Eddie Chambers, not a Sexton. A guy like Haye should have beat a Chagaev or Dimitrenko and not a Monte Barrett tog get a shot at Valuev etc...The big problem with the HW division is guys refuse to fight gatekeepers and instead just wait for the Kltischko's or the sanctioning bodies to choose them.
That being said, to me the liveliest body on eithers resume is Chris Arreola. I think Valuev was done when Haye fought him, and he was old and injured and had already been beat by Chagaev and barely decisioned Holyfield. I think Arreola would beat Valuev and anyone on Haye's resume for that matter.
Its funny, Haye fans, who consistently blabber about Lewis being past his prime when he fought and was retired by Vitali, now have forgotten their prime arguments and now John Ruiz isnt past prime John Ruiz, but rather CHAMPION RUIZ. Monte Barrett is two time challenger and gatekeeper. Audley Harrison is OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST. Its funny, sure these guys all had great accomplishments in their boxing career...however, they were what? 10 years ago?
I dont think either fought impressive resumes but id go with Adamek.
Bonin vs Estrada= tie, both trash
Barrett vs. Golata= tie, both trash now.
Madalone vs. Harrison= Madalone...at least he threw more than one jab
Grant vs. Ruiz= Ill go with Ruiz, but its very close to tie, both trash
Arreola vs. Valuev= Im going with Arreola. Yeah Valuev has been champ, but he didnt deserve it at that time and he subsequently has done literally nothing and is borderline retired and might not even still be alive.
Haye been fighting at heavyweight much longer, since 2008, but has only fought old heavyweights (before that in 2007 he KOed the tomato can Bonin).
After Haye moved up, Adamek was still at cruiserweight and fought Cunningham and then Banks.
Adamek fought 4 times last year, his first full year at heavyweight. Haye fought only ONCE in his first full year at HW.
Haye fought two OLD opponents in 2010 - age 38 Ruiz and age 39 Audley - after being gifted the WBA title.
Arreola is more dangerous than anyone Haye has ever fought. Age 39 Audley was a terrible opponent for someone with a World Heavyweight Title.
If Adamek had a world heavyweight title, he would take on better challenges than old, shot Ruiz and the old clubfighter Audley.
lol! give it a rest tunney...4 world titles,a gold medal & 2 challengers vs adamek who has fought 0 world champs & has 5 challengers...its not even close...
haye has 2 former world champions,a gold medalist & 2 time world title challenger\gatekeeper monte barrett...his opponents have 4 world titles & adamek has how many? golota 4 time challenger, michael grant 1 time challenger...haye for sure
