say a non boxing fan comfortably watching a featured movie. A fan who doesnt know the details of the boxing world.
then he gets to see a boxing commercial. Highlights of Mosley knocking out multiple opponents including Margarito. Highlights of Pacquiao's.
Its says the CBS can reach 115M Households. If just a small percentage of these people gets to order the fight then compute how much sales can this do to Pac-Mosley fight????
------
and think how much will this do to a Pac-Floyd fight? With all those drama of Floyd and being undefeated and Pac being number one? That would be huge.
There still has to be demand by potential customers. Of course advertising will create demand for the product, but how much will be determined...
product is already familiar if not famous, it should be an easy selling for those involve. Question is, will showtime even consider going all out with this? now a days, everything is a strugle, every penny counts. FUKK, i hate myself for saying that. Maybe a Pacquiao product would reach beyond arrogamt fighters and make it a lovable sport once again like the brown bomber era.
Yeah but your first 1/4 is wrong. Just because CBS reaches that many people doesn't mean that many watch it, I'd cut that first number by at least a half. I get Liftetime, Disney, and a bunch of other channels that reach millions of people but I never watch them.
I think this fight will get over 1 million buys total, but I don't see the CBS tie in having a MAJOR effect.'
Promotion runs for more than a month.
That commercial will reach each of those 115M houses within that time span.
That's the rule of retail you guys are talking about. You both forget, if they spend enough money advertising this fight like most big retailers do with their brand new stores, they will get their money back and more. They have that reach to many people, don't you think enough money will spent here?

Have you seen how they have been handling this chance of a life time to them?
Say only 1/4 of those people have the financial freedom to purchase this fight.
= 28.75M
Say only 1/4 of those people with money were impressed by the promotion
= 7.18M
Say only 1/4 have for one way or another gets to order the fight
= 1.79M Buys
Based on just pure speculation :D

It's really hard to say. It will have an effect, but I don't see very many non-boxing fans being enticed enough to drop $60 for the fight.
Now if the fight was on CBS it'd have high ratings, but PPV? Not a lot.
