the way I saw this fight was that both of them showed too brilliant a defense, and too poor of a killer instinct and offensive arsenal.
Devon Alexander was content to pot shot from the outside with weak arm punches with nothing behind them. He seemingly intended to win via amateur boxing points system.
He often frustrated and stymied Bradley's offensive arsenal.
Bradley on the other hand has reflexes that were too fast, causing most of Alexander's shots to miss as he ducked, bobbed and weaved out of the way. His own offense however was in spurts and either missed or was blocked.
When we have two guys fighting with very good defense and very little offense then what we get is a disappointing fight.
Bradley at least tried to press the action but his offensive attempts were one dimensional and too slow for Alexander.
I still feel Bradley won because he landed the ONLY significant punches in the entire fight. I don't think Alexander landed anything flush during the entire fight as most of his punches were either ducked or smothered by Bradley.
What you talking about Devon got punched in the face like 100 times by slow ass Kotelnik.
And as for Bradley I'm too lazy to post the YouTube where he get punched in the face and flies up in the air but you Google that sh1t.
its not about speed its about timming. kotelnik timed devon who was open for the right hand. jsut because your open for a shot odnt mean you have bad defense. marquez landed his right hand on floyd who has the best defense in the last 10 years.
Right???? No need for the stfu.....be an adult. But to your point, they both didnt look like they knew what to do with each other, Alexander barely sat down on any of his shots, and bradley threw some iffy combos. I'm a fan of both, but after watching it again, their styles do not mesh well together. I think Alexander would have been better suited to actually use his jab instead of flicking it, and I think Bradley did decent work along the ropes occasionally. With that being said, the way they fought each other was not impressive at all. Also, I didnt like the way Devin moved into Bradley's right hand most of the time, nor posing in front of him. He could have used his jab and moved laterally instead of standing in front of him or backing up. It just didnt look good. Some fighters merely dont mesh well together and I think this might have been one of those cases. Alexander had a lot of trouble dealing with Bradley's head movement too. It was a weird fight to me. They both could have been much more effective using simple boxing basics and it didnt happen. I applaud every fighter but this fight was far under what I think both are capable of doing!!!!
your right about the stfu and i appologize about that.
but yes they looked like they had trouble figuring out a puzzle but thats what happens when you fight a top level guy. both have good defense and at top of thir game neither wanted to make bad mistakes it was the biggest fight of their career. bradley stuck to his gameplan better. but neither looked like amateurs period. i mean watch floyd fight sharba mitchell the fight was sloppy as hell. sometimes it happens

Yeah how many more times did Holt catch him after that though?
Bradley can be countered, he's still hard to deal with offensively because he comes in with his head and he's good at slipping punches. His problem is in exchanges.
Alexander was beaten that night I agree. Can't really argue that. I believe he's still an above average defensive fighter.
Good post.
This is what happens when you match equally good fighters. It's so rare that two good boxers match up that some of these fools don't recognize it wasn't about what they couldn't do. It was about what the other guy was taking away.
There was a lot of skill shown last night. Bradley is an ugly and wide puncher at times, don't mistake that with lack of skill. And Alexander wasn't getting enough credit from HBO I think for some of the work he was doing in the middle rounds. I thought it was 5-4 going into 10....
Also keep in mind. Bradley's first time fighting a southpaw. Not sure how much that factors in, but it's something.
People seem to think just because Maidana couldn't KO Khan, he's not going to get hurt by anybody else. I can see both Bradley and Alexander taking him out still. Khan does have the advantages in speed, power, and size though.
stfu neither looked lik amateurs. the TS is right they defense and movement nulified their offense. you wouldnt know the difference between an amateur or professional if they both smacked you in the face
According to the Sky Sports commentators neither Alexander or Bradley were good enough to make it to the Olympics squad. I too thought they both looked amateurish last night. They certainly didn't look like the future of American PRO boxing...

Bottom line......they both looked like amateurs last night. They were horrible. For those who are praising Bradley for this fight should be ashamed of themselves. He looked like **** as Devin did. Devin could have easily placed his shots between Bradley's wide shots. But backing up and punching doesnt give you good leverage. All this hype and stuff, and this is what we get? Im not much for Khan either, I dont buy his hype but I do believe he smashes both of em, easily. He is much faster than both and is showing much more promise. and for Bradley backers......Pacquiao will spank that big headed fool......so before you guys go crowning this man.....recognize he will get blasted.

they were both ineffective for the most part.
their defenses were effective in making the opposing fighters offense ineffective. that's my whole point.

spot on. devon pulling back on his shots and not punching thru timmy only touching him limited his offense and also him stepping back instead of forward with his shots.
timmy showed a good jab i was surprised but he gets a little too wild and smoother his shots. his corner told him to keep distance and work body. he squares up too when on the inside. if he plants his feet and shorten his shots turn them over it be better. but also he notice devon slipping so he was tying to time him.
so being they both think in the ring it was a clash of styles noone was going to go balls out unless they saw someone hurt. thats not their style
Devon tried to neutralize Bradley's in game and was for the most part successful ..... he did it by holding on to Bradley when they got close.
Devon fought a very cautious fight (offensively), for the most part. Notice that he threw mostly arm punches.
Bradley's defense was OK but didn't have to be great because of what I stated about Devon's offense.
Bradley did enough offensively but was also cautious. Bradley looked more confident in what he was doing.
Except for a few good shots by Bradley, the biggest shots seemed to have come from those head-butts! lol!
