For dumping so much money into such a bull**** boring ass fight. I'm pissed off I wasted my evening watching this rather than Strikeforce. Its bs fights like this that are killing the sport. This was billed as a major unification bout, and it turned out to be a dud. If any casual fans tuned in for this, they werent impressed.
Hauser reported that HBO actually committed 25% of their annual budget to this fight, the rematch and to Tim's and Devon's next succeeding fight against anyone else. They sure are kicking themselves in the ass.
you guys are idiots, do you people think HBO can ****ing tell the future or what ? On the books this fight is one hell of fight. How the fighters decided to fight and how the fight turned out is not HBO's fault.
stop complaining.
best fight the best?
anyone that saw alexander vs kotelnik knew that alexander isn't even top 5.
hbo needs to stop overhyping **** fighters and making it seem like a high level fight.
imho the fight was closer than the score suggests...
A decent night
I knew Bradley would win this but I did not expect it to end the way it did but either way it is back to the drawing board for Alexander and as for Bradley I foresee a showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez maybe in the summer or in the fall.
This should have been in the undercard of a major card and not the main event. HBO should really get a good matchmaker.. The styles between the two was never goin to make an exciting fight despite the two being undefeated...
Its hard to make a balance between making an entertaining fight, while at the same time making sure that the best fight the best.. That is why HBO needs to employ a good match maker..
This fight should take place but it should not be in the main event of HBO WCB. HBO boxing after dark is more appropriate for this fight. And definitely not for the amount of 3 million dollars..
What is ironic is that the Donaire-Montiel, which is in Boxing after dark, is more worthy of a spot in HBO WCB than this fight.
I disagree with the bold. This is a headliner type of fight. These type of fights we need more of... It just that HBO shouldn't pay almost 4mil for it. And, they also shouldn't pay 1 fighter almost the same amount that Pac and JMM got paid put together for their first fight.

How can they make 400-500K fighting against stiffs if HBO wont allow them and reject those fights. Where would they go?? Showtime? Showtime is all about fights. Plus they wont get that much amount in Showtime either. They're budget is way lower than HBO.
Exactly right, and they have other priorities right now like the S6 and 118 tournament.
So you're saying a network like HBO and Showtime would not pay Devon around 400-500K to fight someone like Maidana, Ortiz, or even JMM?
JMM is an HBO fighter, he can't go to Showtime. I don't know about Maidana or Ortiz.
Just because Pac and Cotto went to Showtime doesn't mean that every fighter can just fight on Showtime. Neither Cotto nor Pac nor any Top rank fighter has a contract with any network.
JMM has a contract with HBO. GBP has a deal with HBO and GBP promotes Maidana and Ortiz. So I don't know how that works.
I'm not saying HBO should keep overpaying for fights. What I'm saying is there was no way Devon and Bradley were going to fight for 500K on HBO for a championship fight against each other.
They could've made around 400-500K fighting other guys without fighting each other. These guys weren't going to risk their careers for 500K each.

Who would of paid that? HBO? Why?

Who else they fight then?
To say HBO didn't have a choice is very stupid they are the main boxing channel.
But, whatever...Lets have them overpay for fights. Blow their budget and we get less and less fight on the networks. But, lets not keep quiet like their is nothing wrong.

If you're a fighter or promoter... would you risk your young undefeated star for 500K? No.
There is no way in hell Devon and Bradley were going to fight for 500K and 600K because the loser was not going to have a chance to fight against the top stars in boxing. Now, Devon has to rebuild his career because he's not going to get a chance to fight the top guys in boxing and make millions. He needs to fight a tune-up fight and get a better trainer. Bradley can now fight someone like Khan in the UK for over a million and HBO would make a profit. Devon needs a tune-up fight because there is no way he's going to fight a top guy next.
HBO really had no choice but to give into the demands of both fighters to make the fight happen. Remember, both guys acted like divas during the negotiations and the fight almost did not happen.
Do you really think Devon and Bradley were going to fight for 500K when you have other guys making more than that?
You're right when you say Devon and Bradley's real value is around 500K, but both guys aren't going to accept an offer of 500K for a championship fight.
Who else they fight then?

Carnal, en serio are you dense? Do you work for HBO?
Why does HBO have to overpay? Why do they have to outbid themselves? HBO runs the town. You pay Bradley 600k and Alexander 500k to fight each other. Where else would they get that money? You pay Berto 250 to fight somebody like Hernandez.
You do not need to over pay...Why is overpaying or no fight an option? Why not pay accordingly or see where else they could get that payday. I bet you they come running back to HBO because they don't have the name of a Mayweather or a Pacquiao.

Let's see...
Either HBO overpays to give the fans what they want, or the fans don't get the fight they want and demand?
Not a hard choice for HBO to make a fight in demand.
Both guys were only willing to fight if they got paid for the fight.

couldnt predict this fights outcome, so cant blame em, they were both ranked top of the 140 lb division. they have some pretty good fights coming up, so maybe theyll get money back from those cards...
