The news has broken out that 1984 Gold Medalist and former pound for pound king, Pernell Whitaker will be assisting in the Zab Judah (40-6, 27 ko's) training camp. Zab is set to fight rugged South African Kaizer Mabuza (23-6-3, 14 ko's) on March 5th in Newark,N.J,. The fight will be the main event at the Amerihealth Pavilion at the Prudential Center.
The question is how much can Whitaker teach a 33 year old who has always come up "a day late and a dollar short" in his biggest fights? When Zab first entered the pro ranks he was compared to Whitaker, and some said Zab would be better then Whitaker because of his power. Judah hasn't come remotely close to duplicating the career Whitaker had. To be fair not many boxers can stack up against Sweet Pea's legacy. Whitaker won titles from lightweight to junior middleweight.
Whitaker has been in training camps with notable fighters such as former American heavyweight contender Calvin Brock and Pittsburgh favorite son undefeated former lightweight titlist Paul Spadafora. Can Judah be taught new tricks? We won't know until March 5th. I don't think it's his skill that needs repair but his work ethic and mental focus needs to be patched up.
Maybe Zab should let Whitaker work his corner. I couldn't see Whitaker doing any worse then Yoel Judah.
I feel the same way, Mabuza doesn't tire and applies tons of pressure, I'm still hoping Judah wins.
When did Floyd say the quote in your sig? Its damn a good quote :biggthump
Unless Sweet Pea is going to give Zab some therapy sessions on how to withstand constant pressure, Mabuza is getting in his ass.

Last time I saw sweet P try to do an interview he could hardly talk. I think most of his brain is mush now. Don't see how he can teach anything, also zab is what 32? 34? Too late man. He is what he is. A quick south paw that fades after round 5.
all the people sayin his work ethic is bad have know idea what they're talkin about. zab works hard as f*ck these days. he isnt slackin anymore so work ethic isnt even an issue and he's more focused now than he ever was! WAR JUDAH!!
