Why is it that you made an aggressive comment about Amir Khan in the last few days?
Because almost one month after our fight in Las Vegas he is still mentioning me in the news. He said something like I had to come to my senses since I had asked a stupid number to face him at first. What a liar! I just asked what I deserved for a big fight like that. However, some got my comment wrong. I was not trying to push for a rematch with Amir since we all know he will never give it to me. That would be wasting time. And I never said that I had won the fight last December. I’m not a crying dog. I was just fed up with Khan’s kind of comments through which he thinks he rules the industry. I stand for the fighters’ right to earn good purses while Khan only tries to get everything for himself by diminishing his opponents. But let’s move on.
Freddie Roach commented that Manny Pacquiao against you would be such an explosive fight that would produce fireworks.
Well, I’m honored to hear that from Freddie. Manny is the best in the world. I admire him because he’s the kind of nice and quiet guy who then turns into a demon inside the ring. Obviously, I’d love to fight him but I’m more willing to fight loudmouth and arrogant boxers like Floyd Mayweather.
Would you move up in weight to fight Mayweather?
I’d jump on that right now. Without a blink of the eye. I don’t wanna sound arrogant myself ’cause that’s not my style. But Mayweather’s attitude pisses me off. He was so disrespectful with Pacquiao and then all we know is that he got himself out of the fight. I hate that attitude from him when he refers to other boxers like “who is this one or who has done that one” like he is the only champion of all time. I remember when he did that to Margarito and then he was disrespectful with my compatriot Carlos Baldomir.
But you never fought as a welterweight.
On Mayweather’s last bout he was nearly knocked out on his feet by Shane Mosley in the second round. That tells me that Mayweather could not take a solid punch from me. He is a better boxer than me, of course. But I’m a warrior, so the fight would not be a tactical one. I’d make it a war by stalking him until he falls.
On the other hand, it is being said that HBO wants you to match with the loser of next Saturday’s Alexander vs. Bradley fight.
Well, they are both great fighters. It is a very intriguing fight where either one can win. They are both skillful and solid champions. Of course, I’d like to face them. I really liked Bradley’s idea of doing a roundrobin tourney in which all the best 140 pounders face each other.
How about Juan Manuel Marquez or Erik Morales?
They are all great champions. I don’t think Morales could beat Marquez these days, though. But I’m a fighter and I know I have to be ready to face any of the big names out there if I want to succeed. But like I said before, at the top of my list is Floyd Mayweather.

Gotta laugh at the false sense of security these guys get when they beat an old war horse.
Can't call him dumb, though. If you shoot for the stars and don't make it, you may land on the moon - or - face up on the canvas staring at the stars.
If Maidana can struggle with Khan whose boxing IQ isnt much to write home about then i wouldnt even put him in the same sentence with Mayweather.
The sad thing is Maidana's fight with Khan was the basis for people hyping him up as some beast, forgetting that he looked one dimensional throughout the whole fight.
I actually smirked when Morales started to school him in that fight because our ''humble warrior'' began to get too cocky and started believing in his own hype.
mayweather would make maidana look like an amateur, and maidana does a pretty good job of that already on his own.
anyone who even makes the laughable claim floyd is ducking and/or would get beat by maidana needs to lay off the crack-cocaine
Maidana doesn't belong to the level of elite fighters. He's all brawn & doesn't have much skills. He could get KTFO if he fights boxers in the calibre of Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, or any other A-Level fighter for that matter.
Mayweather would do a Gatti on him.
I give Maidana props, he is a fun and exciting fighter. However i cant think of another fighter from 130-160 who would match up with Floyd worse stylistically. Mayweather deffinately would do a Gatti on him.
Are people still willing to argue that Maidana could compete with Mayweather?
it's ridiculous....Maidana barely got past a SHOT Corley........Mayweather would KO Maidana.....he would be defenseless. It would be like Gatti vs Mayweather number 2.
Cmon now, you can't say Maidana doesn't hit hard enough to earn Mayweather's respect. How can you even say this when Floyd hasn't even fought him? The point is, Floyd isn't prime anymore, and we don't know how much he can handle getting hit flush until it happens right? So, there's always a chance. And like I keep saying, it's plain obvious that Maidana will get outboxed, I'm not arguing about that, I'm mainly stating that Floyd isn't as 'slick' as he used to be due to age, and we don't know he will handle Maidan's pressure.
So, if Floyd can keep the distance and counter all night, of course he wins, but if a fresh Maidana hits him and gets rocked, I doubt Maidana's gonna pull a Mosley and gets discouraged the entire fight. He's gonna keep pushing.
So there's always that chance of an upset.
Floyd extends vacation indefinitely.
watch floyd duck maidana...................
Are people still willing to argue that Maidana could compete with Mayweather?
couple of things:
a) Remember what Mosley did to Floyd at Round 2? Well think Maidana doing the same thing but not getting tired. Keep in mind he almost knocked Amir out on a late round, this is round 2 we're talking about.
b) About the body shot, those are WICKED 1-2 body shot by Khan, didn't expect Maidana to get up, but he did.
c) How long ago was the Gatti fight? lol. Any true boxing fan, and even fans of FLoyd know that Floyd doesn't have his legs anymore, and he was never a big KO puncher, so age comes to play.
I'll say this again, Floyd will obviously outbox Maidana and that's his way of winning, but nobody knows what will happen once Maidana connects. Maidana is a threat to anyone, period.
There are so many things wrong with this post. First off Maidana isnt anywhere near as quick or as strong as Shane Mosley. If Amir Khan could take Maidanas punch Floyd definitely can.
I love how people said Floyd would run from Mosley if they ever fought but since Floyd beat Mosley while standing his ground suddenly they say he lost his legs? Floyd hardly used his legs against Gatti what he used was his hand seed which he would have in spades against Maidana.
Maidana is only a threat if you get careless against him. A guy who lost to slow azz Kotelnik and couldnt knockout glass chinned Khan has absolutely no chance against Mayweather.
Who in their right mind would want to see that fight? Maidana would get demolished, and Floyd wouldn't get touched. If Marquez couldn't land at all, what chance does Maidana have? Never make this fight.
Buddy, maybe it's time for you to watch other boxing matches that were upsets, instead of just watching Floyd fights, lol.
Dude is ignorant, what can I say, lol.

Honestly, what are you basing this on? Do me a favor: watch the last 24 rounds Mayweather has boxed and tell me how many times he has been hit flush. (Hint-you can count this number on one had).
Maidana has something Floyd lacks.. true heart.. Maidana would bang with the best of them no matter how low his odds of winning are.. Cant say that about Floyd..
