PACQUIAO TO FIGHT AFRICAN-AMERICAN BOXERS FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER?
Posted by Karceno
With all the recent talks of Manny Pacquiao being named fighter of the decade, without fighting not one african-american boxer. Manny Pacquaio is set to erase any doubt that he is afraid to fight anyone. The media was a buzz over the notion that Pacquiao fighting anybody, that his timing seemed strange, figuring he's already fighting Mosley in May. Why now? What was the reason. Sources tell us that if Alexander wins on Saturday, a Mega fight with him and Manny will move to the forefront. With Andre Berto and Tim Bradley all being mentioned for 2012 possible fights as well, that was the reason for the out of the blue statements made by Manny Pacquiao.
Don King went futher to say "We are working on it" King told Lem Satterfield. “When we get past Tim Bradley, there won’t be anywhere else to go because we’ve talked about Manny Pacquiao for Ricardo Mayorga. But Devon Alexander is a Jewel of The Nile and he will be there shining brilliantly. When he wins this fight on Jan. 29, then he will be able to stand tall and to say, ‘Let’s do it.’
“So, categorically, we will jump through a hoop to get to Manny Pacquiao. That would be another Thrilla in Manila,” King said. They could have this fight October, on the first, right on the 36th anniversary of that heavyweight thrilla. With new distribution deals in place, with CBS/Showtime, brings more US exposure, which is available in 115 million homes in the United States alone. CBS is forming a series similar to HBO's 24/7 to promote the bout. A name that wasn't mentioned was Floyd Mayweather, the fighter the public wants to see Manny fight the most. A Mega Fight between the two maybe even harder to make now. Not to say that Bob Arum would never work with HBO again, but with this Showtime deal in place, and the way Arum feels he was treated by HBO executives, Mayweather's HBO PPV contract, can become an issue now. Last time its was derailed due to Blood Test, this time it could be, due to Bad Blood.
