I was wondering, Paulie has a good career, but nobody at the top level respect his punching power, what do you think he could have accomplished with a decent punching power?
I mean, you can't take away Paulie's heart and he has a pretty decent chin. Also his speed his better than average and his footwork is great. His biggest downfall is his power.
What yall think?
provided that nothing else was compromised with him having power, speed, skills, chin, if all those were the same and he had one punch KO power, malignaggi would be a world beater and would be an elite fighter.
he has the chin, the stamina, he has the general boxing skills, hand speed, the only thing he's really missing is power.
thats his weak spot is his power because it doesn't keep anyone off of him, that is worth a damn at least. even if malignaggi had semi decent power he would be a top level fighter.......
i'm kind of glad he's not though, because i don't think his ego could handle it and i don't think i could handle his ego, because i can't handle it now.
i'm not hating on malignaggi, but dude is mad annoying to me. especially when he does some milli vanilli type hair schit.
Anybody think that with power he could have beaten Khan,Cotto or Hatton? I think he could have ko'ed Juan Diaz in their rematch personally.
i dont think khan or cotto but i think he could hav ko'ed hatton alright
His record would be about the same, he would have more KO's and perhaps the Hatton and Khan fight would have been closer and the Cotto fight about more than Paulie showing his heart, maybe he gets the baby bull 1 decision. In all honesty it wouldnt help him that much unless it was just huge power. He's a B+ fighter, if you beat paulie you pretty much are locked in as a top 15 p4p guy.Im not sure if even more power could have helped him beat guys like Khan, Cotto and Hatton.
well he would have had more knockouts!,the fast punches coupled with power would have floored people when he counters them
but he wouldnt box quite aswell as he could really on some power and not only on boxing in his style.
i supose fights versus good pressure fighters is easier as they woudlnt come forward so willingly.
i prefer paulies style now though,he doesnt look for the easy way out,he looks to dominate a fight by pure skill and athleticism.
i think he can definately get a title at welterweight, his speed looks just as good there.
and he has that solid chin so he should be okay in the divsion in that respects.

he might have done better against khan.
power can be a blessing and a curse..he might've not been as successful as he is now..alot of fighters fall in love with their power and neglect their boxing skills chasing a ko
Exactly what I was thinking when I read the title
I don't think it's that he doesn't have power, I think it's actually his stance, which really depletes any leverage he would have on his shots. I'm guessing that's why he relies on his jab over everything. He rarely throws hooks, right hands, or uppercuts, he just stuffs his jab in your face because his stance is so skewed so it really compliments the jab.
