NBA are not tough, they are crying and hurt from a little contact.
NFL and NHL would have some potential boxing.
In the NHL; (You should note that these guy right now wouldn't do great, but if they had trained properly for it, hell yeah)
Zdeno Chara; 6"9 - 255lbs, hockey player's cardio are better than in any other sport, I know Chara was a great wrestler, with his mean streak, I think he could do okay in the ring.
Georges Laraque; 6"3 - 273lbs, not so much anymore because he is getting older and banged up, but in the early-mid 2000's he didn't lose any fight on the ice and his left hand is deadly.
Derek Boogaard; 6"7 - 265lbs, one of the best true heavyweight left in the NHL, "During this fight, Boogaard landed a brutal punch to the cheek sending Fedoruk to the ice. As a result, Fedoruk had to undergo surgery to reconstruct his shattered cheek using titanium plates.". That dude can punch.
Bob Probert (RIP) 6"3 - 225lbs, that man was a freak show in his prime, he was crazy in his mind, had crazy hand speed and would knock anybody, anywhere, anytime. He passed away lately.
Dave Semenko 6"3 - 220lbs, "He fought boxing legend Muhammad Ali in an exhibition on June 12, 1983." The man fought Ali. He is arguably a top-5 best goon of all time.
I can't understand why nobody mentionned a hockey player, but a bunch of sissy NBA player.
The actually FIGHT in the NHL and those guys are tough SOB.
Baseball season is twice as long as basketball, whether you're sitting or not. There are still workouts to be done daily, traveling, etc.
Nothing is impossible. Bo and Deion went straight from baseball season into football season, with no training camps.
Who cares if it's twice as long when only like 5% of the season actually overlaps the NFL season.
You do realize that baseball and football schedules don't really overlap each other. 22 teams in the MLB are done playing by week 3 of the NFL season. By week 17 of the NLF season most NBA teams are about 35 games into their schedule...that's roughly HALF of the NBA season. You really expect people to believe that someone can miss all of training camp and pre-season and HALF of the regular season games and still be able to compete? This doesn't even include if you make it to the playoffs and have to play up until February. By that time teams are close to 50 games into the season.
The NBA isn't the MLB. the schedules just overlap way to much.
MLB goes from spring to early fall
NFL goes from fall to winter
NBA goes from fall to spring/summer
NBA and NFL at the same time is impossible and you know it.
and Wade doesn't even have the heart to walk back to the locker room after a shoulder injury, and you want me to believe he has the heart to take punches to the face?
lol
Wade has never been afraid of contact in the NBA. He's always been known for being an extremely explosive and a tough NBA player who has no problem being physical when needed.
I don't care if you believe Wade would be a good boxer or not. I think he would be and one incident when he needed a wheelchair to get off the court proves nothing. Especially when neither of us have any idea how much it really hurt him.

basketball and football season overlap though, so how would somebody play in the NFL and the NBA at the same time?
LMAO...No way in hell is it possible for anyone to play an 82+ game basketball season and then a 17+ week football season.
It's possible to play Baseball and another sport because in baseball you spend 90% of the game either sitting down or standing in one spot.
In football training camp starts in August. In the NBA training camps start in September. For anyone to play those two sports at one time is IMPOSSIBLE.

Really?
So what other pro sport did Iverson excel at?
Bo Jackson was both a Pro Bowl football player, and Major League all star.
Iverson was good at one sport.
Bo excelled at two, at their highest levels.
Deion as well.
Dave Winfield was drafted for all three american sports leagues.
Iverson pales in comparison, quite easily.

You're absolutely right. Playing more sports doesn't make one better than someone who plays less.
Excelling at more sports than someone who just plays one,
does.
If Iverson was that great, he could have pulled off the feat of playing in the NFL from August to the very latest, early February, and then, jumped on over to the NBA from early January to possibly June.
But he didn't.
Bo and Deion both played pro baseball, and then went on to play pro football,
and excel at it.
You've got to be quite young to think Allen Iverson is the greatest athlete ever.

Did Vitali have to be rolled back to the dressing room in a wheelchair?
And somehow you think because Wade is an athletic basketball player,
he can take punches in the face?
He chose basketball for a reason.
Because its a much softer sport than boxing.
ughh...
This thread is all based on who you THINK can make a good heavyweight. And I'm saying I THINK D Wade would have the heart and balls to do it. Of course I have no idea if he really has the boxing IQ or the ability to take a punch, but from what I've seen on the court, I think he's capable of it.
none....so the excuse that americans have no good hws right now becuase they went to other sports is a big bullsh1t myth.....
This is basically what it boils down to.
Americans can't stand to not be the best at anything, so when they aren't, they make excuses.
They lost FIBA, "we didn't send our best players". Of course it couldn't simply be that the rest of the world has caught up.
They lost the World Baseball Classic, "we didn't send our best players". Of course it couldn't be that the rest of the world has caught up.
No dominating HW champion in boxing, "our best HW is in the NFL".
Quite disgusting actually.
Iverson was the #1 rated football recruit in Virgina. Also playing more sports doesn't make you a better athlete

I'm not sayind all MLB, NFL and NBA would make a good boxer, but imagine if an athlete like Lebron grow up w/ boxing gloves instead of a basketball. Most if not all elite boxers grew up in the ring taking punches and its second nature for them. To me that what it takes to be an elite champion. I don't know any young kids boxing or where to take a kid to start boxing and that's a problem. Every little kid I know plays baseball, basketball or football.

lol not a chance in hell. Iverson trumps them all especially Bo Jackson.

teddy atlas claimed that ray lewis was one of the greatest heavyweights he saw to have never gone pro.....he was shocked.
many of those guys in the nfl & nba would make solid heavyweights. it would be like the 80's era all over again.....& then there are those who wouldn't make great boxers...but the point is MANY would make unbelievable heavyweights.........
also i don't think a todays shaq would make a unbelievable heavyweight. a younger shaq before the man boobs & belly would probably make a solid heavyweight....(when he played on the magic & early laker years)
Not a chance in hell would MANY basketball players and football players make great heavyweights. The special guys like Iverson or Bret Favre who are ridiculously tough. But 99.9% lack the toughness.
Just because a guy can run a decent 100m time and maybe weighs in at 200 plus doesn't mean he can fight in a ring, sorry guys. Why not put a set of gloves on Usain Bolt and be done with it? Ring skills are learned over many years, not in some Summer camp.
NRL players here in Australia would cross over well imo. We have some monster athletes in that sport who do alot of boxing as part of their training.
Mundine was able to cross over successfully from NRL in a very short time frame.
Bo Jackson>>>Deion Sanders>>>>Dave Winfield>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>allen iverson.
lol not a chance in hell. Iverson trumps them all especially Bo Jackson.
the SA team would get DQd for eye gouging though, they take it a bit too far!
Yeah, they wouldn't last long.
I think Lewis Moody could take the mother of all beatings., though.
He seems like one of those hard-as-nails public school types that actually do exist. Game as anything. Stupid as a brick.
