What the fvck is Arum talking about, taking boxing back from the networks??Really dude, how,by taking ur ppv somewhere else??So basically he's saying he's gonna take his ppv fights from hbo & go put his ppv fights on showtime,ha,that fvcker ain't fooling me.
Let me see,Khan-Maidana & now Alexander-Bradley,network hbo,no ppv.Are better than the 3-peat,Pacman-Clottey,Margarito & now Mosley ppv.Yup,that's right I said it.Take a hard stance with Martinez, but if that hard stance brings forth Martinez-Dzinziruk,then so be it.(As long as that $hit ain't ppv).
Donaire-Montiel,network hbo??Oh yeah,I can dig it,sign me up!!Now all hbo gotta do,is find a way to get Berto to step up,or fvck off.
I respect Cotto, but his Clottey & Freman fights were indeed network hbo.I don't see how Mayorga & him are worthy of ppv,I really don't.If U asked me,HBO are doing the smart thing, get them good matchups without the ppv price, that's what showtime has been doing for forever & that's why I've always said they were better.
Ok picking bradley and alexander is hopefully going to b a good fight for hbo. But who's going to watch bsides the hardcore. Hbo didn't market the fight at all!!!!!! Same with the last 3 months of 2010 no marketing!!!! And that's the real problem with boxing. Period! I don't care where the fights go they could be on nbc, abc, cbs, hbo, showtime, animal planet! I don't care just make the fights and get some hype behind them please!
arum always does what is good for his bussiness.....none of you mofos are smarter than him in terms of the bussiness of boxing..............
wat's good for arums business is not always good for boxing fans. smh, do u even get whats going on in the thread??? or are u gonna blindly defend arum, because he's protecting his business?
Thanks Dempsey,I'll throw in my 2 cents as well.I'm a fan of boxing,(the sport)not the business. This tread wasn't about the business of boxing puga, again U read & understand at ur leisure.
The business aspect of boxing is what is greedily killing the sport. It looks to me like all arum did is move his ppv mismatches from hbo to showtime.Whoop d fvcking whoooo.Hbo are busy promoting the fight with Alexander-Bradley,on the network without the ppv price.U want more people to watch boxing, give em good competitive fights without the high ppv price.
Boxing back in it's high day was on abc & $hit,it was popular & people tuned in.Then htey moved the bigger fights to showtime & hbo & that trend continued onto ppv & lately we've been seeing a little too much mismatch ppv's.As a boxing fan,I wanna see good fights for cheaper than a superstar taking mismatches & throwing that $hit on ppv.U know why everyone tunes in to the superbowl??It doesn't cost much to watch. That's why more people will watch basketball & football & less will watch a ppv fight.
Again is not a bad mismatch.
What I would do is try to talk to Arum in making a double header. Where I would at least get a return in my investment.
But, no lets not look at HBO, lets just crap on Arum.
lets be realistic, do u, for a second, think arum was interested in making a double header??? we are talking about a man who was so upset with being denied that he took the pac fight to showtime outta spite. that suggests to me that arum had no desire and was probably not interested in a double header. for all we kno it was suggested.
think about it this way my friend. hbo wanted cotto/martinez arum wanted cotto/vanes. arum said no to cotto/martinez. why should hbo put their money up for a fight that can be described as a mc donalds happy meal, cheap but filling, when they hand their minds on a fight that can be described as fillet mingnon? its like going to a store and asking for a pair of polo boots but the store keeps trying to sell u timberlands. wtf would u do???

HBO is in the right. Bob just wants to keep cherry picking easy and in house fights to make the easiest money while risking nothing with his stars. He is the worst thing for boxing since Don King. HBO needs to stay the **** away from Arum and just make the best fights out there with fighters who want to actually fight the best. Pac wont be around forever. Arum is screwing himself badly in the long run here. A whole lot of people involved with Pac are screwed when he retires.
Wow HBO just lost their 2 biggest guys to their biggest competitor and millions of $
Unfortunately some posters are delusional enough to believe this is a win for HBO or them making a stand.

But, is that really a crappy mismatch? Vanes is a big mouth who might not be able to back it up. Pero, he's a top 10-15 at 154 and has an undefeated record.
Cotto-Mayorga is a crappy mismatch. But, Cotto-Vanes was a solid fight.
Don't get me wrong por que en serio, Martinez-Dzinziruk>Cotto-Vanes. So in that sense HBO made the right decision.
But, the TS is making it out to seem like Arum was trying to feed a crappy mismatch to HBO that they turned down. Lets not forget that Arum is also giving HBO Montiel-Donaire.
People got so much hate for Arum and Pac that they sometimes don't look at the good things that Arum does. He does a lot of bad but he also does some good and he don't get credit for it.

Yeah if that's how U wanna look at 2 ppv mismatches,I guess.Question for U though,are Cotto-Mayorga & Pacman-Mosley better matchups than Khan-Maidan & Alexander-Bradley,yeah,that's what I thought.
Although Alexander/Bradley may be a better matchup than the 2 ppv's on the horizon, the reason why its NOT of ppv is maybe because they're having trouble even selling out a bingo hall. Last I heard tickets sales were extremely dismal.

That's from a boxing fan's point of view, but if you're in hbo's shoes and looking at it from a business standpoint... it's not so pretty.

Im glad for them
But when you lose a fighter who gets more PPV's then any other fighter has views on regular HBO, you made a mistake
HBO did nothing good
Arum is being a prissy b*tch right now. Hes getting his emotions in the way of business..
if i was under his company as a fighter i would be concerned about his priorities (which obviously only himself) and look for a way out asap
yeah bro,Don king did this shlt years with hbo.He was pissed at hbo for
not kissing his azz,Then he took tyson and chavez to showtime. Now look at
king,He is crying that hbo dont give him dates.
Wow HBO just lost their 2 biggest guys to their biggest competitor and millions of $
