Evander Holyfield is the Muhammad Ali of this generation, he's a washed up, years past prime former hw champion that still believes in his abilitiy to compete at the most elite level. Both exhibited "punchyness" later in their careers and should have retired years earlier. Evander's given us countless epic battles thorought his long career and has one of the biggest hearts (to his detriment) in boxing today.
That said, I'm supporting him and hope he wins tonight, impressively, without taking too much punishment.
WAR HOLYFIELD!:boxing:

I can't believe this PPV didn't crash the forum lmao...
Everyone was enjoying the wonderful performances, no time to post. I was so enthralled by the jazz band that I only managed to make three posts in this thread.
That's how you put on a show.

Also, Top Rank said they would post the fight on TopRank.com according to their twitter.

He didnt get the KO

Boxrec is slacking, they are late with the results if this already happened.

In his toughest test as a pro, heralded 18 year old junior welterweight prospect Jose Benavidez Jr. (10-0 9 KOs) kept his record perfect when he won a unanimous decision over Fernando Rodriguez (5-2 3 KOs) who is the first professional to go the distance with Benavidez. The scores were 59-55 twice and 58-56.

Holyfield is so old he did not even need a mouthpiece, they just removed his false teeth. That was the worst Boxing card/concert I've ever seen. Who put that card together Barry Manilow.
You wouldn't believe it, if we told joo...
There was a Ray Charles impersonator, a jazz band, dancing girls, cirque du soleil crap....
Strange night of boxing...
This actually sounds awesome.
To bad I watched it and it sucked....lol
Diego looked very impressive to me after that he would be live against anyone at 130 even if he doesn't have that many fights yet.
Not to mention every fight on that card ending by a stoppage, at least the televised ones, what happened with Benevidez? wasn't he supposed to be on it?
I was wondering that too. They didn't even mention him during the broadcast, I figured there'd be highlights.

You left out the epic fight card
What there was a symphony?

So I take it by the thread responses that I made a smart choice by watching the top rank card on FSN instead of this
That's what I did. The Magdaleno brothers impressed as did Marroquin. Some impressive up-and-comers on that card...
I have a feeling Williams was about to "James Toney" Holy's ass if he didn't quit.
I think it would have been a much more devastating KO. Williams was throwing, and landing, some really clean crisp hard punches and almost had Evander out towards the end of the round. Holyfield's corner obviously sensed this and decided to pull the plug to spare him the career ending KO.
Hopefully this will be the last wake up call for Holyfield to retire before he gets seriously injured...
