Competition is always good in my eyes. It will cause everyone to step there game up. I would have to think HBO is thinking of a way to counter this with something big.
And who wins?
The fans!
I'm in favor of Promoters taking risk (something none are willing to do it seems).
Think about a guy like Don King. Dude was famous for taking risk and exploring different avenues in the sport of boxing (Thrilla n Manilla, Tyson vs Douglas in Tokyo, Rumble in the Jungle etc).
It seems now n days everyone is content with securing an HBO date and hosting it in Vegas.
Even if it flops, and I doubt it will, I like the move and if Sho can open up the boxing budget more and compete with HBO, then it's a win for boxing (due to them competing).
Hell yea!!! Change is always good especially now that boxing is slowly fading away from mainstream. It's always good to explore and see what **** comes up. I mean I think it's great.
Plus I feel like Showtimes commentary is better than HBO's ATM. I love merchant, lamply and steward but i think they're past their prime and sometimes they make boxing fights boring to watch. Gus, Bernstein and tarver have great chemistry and they have lots of energy. Love listening to them.
Gus will certainly be there.
It doesn't really make a difference, if they got a good deal though no reason not to take it and that is good for those directly involved.
100,000,000 can watch Pacquiao vs Mosley fight. I think this is not PPV. They will get a lot of sponsors, advertisement, and commercials every round. At least its FREE! This is like SUPER BOWL! I guess.
It's a PPV.
there sshould be an option for "neither".
Because that is the answer.
This move has little impact. Positive or negative.
agree with this. I like it just because it's something different, but overall? Doesn't really matter.

Boxing on big networks never does well, the promotion is never good enough nbc tried to bring back saturday afternoon fights it did not work,it has to be a slow build start showing these lower weight world title fights you only here about in the news, and move up from there,as of now if you do not have hbo or showtime your fcked as a fan.
I agree to an extent. The slow build up is what would work. You are not going to be able to start a series right now because the general sports fan is not going to want to watch fighters they dont know.
Now with a build up series with Pacquiao will get interest. People know who he is and will be interested. Its basic marketing. The further you cast uor net the more fish you will bring in.
It will help the promotion and the fight will do well.
HBO will want to counter this and the fans will win out in the end.
