A 24/7 on regular television could have a major positive impact on Boxing. How does everyone think this would impact PPV buys? This could actually be the sort of situation to give Pac leverage in potential Pac negotiations.. Boxing needs to get back on regular TV!
it should be bigger than if it was on hbo.
with that said, is this fight really in high demand? I don't think so.
I think this does below 1 million on hbo, and at most 1.25 now.
ESPN would be the best outlet for this, IMO if they put it on ESPN then you might get a real bump in numbers.
CBS has some good shows but little in the way of sports in month before the fight, if it was football season or the fight was the week after the Masters CBS could get it done in a fairly big way because it is easier to sell a fight to someone already watching sport as opposed to a sitcom/drama/news/reality show.
What does getting off cable matter? You can't order PPV if you don't have cable~
Putting lipstick on a pig only helps out the pigs look so much, I would expect Hatton numbers plus minus 50k. Blame Mosley and looking like ass against Floyd for it doing less than a million (Mora too but that was much less widely viewed).

8 People are either bitter or stupid..
To me it would be the same as with HBO, it will be a bit more interesting watching how Showtime/CBS does it so that whole series should be fun to watch.
The limitations are still the same though, they just have a partner who will be more than willing to push it I would say close the the Hatton number +/- 50k
Over a mil. Pac is the biggest star worldwide and shane is probably one of the most recognizable active American fighters out there. And according to Reuters, CBS is the most watched tv network in America...All the CSI shows, Survivor, and that Charlie Sheen show are all on CBS. If done right, this could be a huge sell for Pac/Mosley
Bro.. HBO can't afford to host Pacquiao/Mayweather. They've got to pay for Andre Berto's next fight. It's just not realistic. My big question in a Pac/May showdown would be who's name goes first on the promotional materials? I can't see either side conceding that honor..
Pac conceded that a long time ago. It was obviously much more important to Floyd.
For this event I don't see how it hurts. But, in the bigger picture I can see something HBO=GBP/Floyd and Showtime=Top Rank/Pac. That we would get nothing close to a big fight. And, that would hurt the sport in general.
HBO=Lewis and Showtime=Tyson. It happened. Keep the faith. :beerchug:
Do manny's fights EVER meet expectations?
Why would this one be any different? It will fall short like all the others.
No doubt, and in reality I hope this **** kind of flops TBH. I would love for Golden boy and HBO to counter program with Mexican theme on free HBO for the Cinco de Mayo weekend. I hope UFC does something big for May 7. Because maybe if it flops and I'm talking about less than 700k type flop. Then it could get Pac to go back to his 08-09 type of run.
However, I don't see how this move hurts the event at all. If anything it will help the event. Because, at the end of the day the people that were going to order it and watch it on HBO PPV will still do it on Showtime. That is really the worse case scenario. The only thing they will be banking on is to CBS viewers who were not thinking about ordering it or didn't know about to order the event.

So, I should be objective the way Pac nuthuggers like you are so objective. All of Pac's 24/7 shows have been boring. Mosley has never been a draw on PPV. Pac have never been as big of a draw as his worshippers like you like to claim. He drew 1.1 million in his last fight (Margarito), 700,000 before that fight (Clottey) and 1.2 million (Cotto). Margarito supposedly has a following, but the fight still didn't draw the 1.5 million that Arum claimed and predicted. Mosley cannot draw flies and even hard-core boxing fans won't buy this fight. If hard core fans won't buy it, what they hell makes your stupid ass think that casual fans will buy it? How many fans did Mosley draw in his last PPV against Sergio Mora? The answer is we don't know because the numbers were so low that HBO refused to release them. If Pac has never drawn more than 1.2 million on PPV and the only time he has drawn more than 1 million has been when he fought three Hispanics (De La Hoya, Cotto, Margarito) with a good following, what the hell makes you think he will draw more than 1 million with a guy who the networks won't even put on PPV as the featured attraction?
Is that objective enough for you, dumbass?

between 1m-1.25m it will do
I laugh at the idiots, yes idiots saying it will not do 1m, just use your common sense, this is the biggest boxer in terms of reputation and fan base in the world
Yet, somehow, he is consistently outsold by that OTHER guy.
Go figure.

You just making a whole bunch of retarded statements.
How many events have done 1.5mil? What is your point?
Schafer predicted Mayweather-Mosley to do what was it? 2mil? 3mil? What is your point?
Worst case scenario their "24/7 like" series it's on CBS then it will have the same exact ratings that it would have on HBO. Worst case scenarios it would do the same PPV buys it would have if it was on HBO PPV. Again this is the worst case scenario.
Now that is objective for your dumbass.
Probably the only trully garbage post in the entire thread. Atleast make an effort at objectivity.

You think more view HBO or Showtime more so than what they view prime time CBS?
And, everybody who has HBO and would watch 24/7 on HBO why wouldn't they in turn watch it on CBS since they already have CBS? And, now the only ones who have Showtime and not HBO can watch a 24/7 like series or 1 time show on CBS because they already have CBS?
At the very least it would get the same ratings that it would have if it was on HBO....Those same viewers would tune in to CBS.QUOTE]
This should be a given. But it's good that we clarify, as for some it is not.
In spite of what many of you think, a 24/7 show on CBS will do nothing to help this promotion. First, a Pac/Mosley 24/7 will be extremely boring -- much more boring than the Pac/Cotto or Pac/Margarito 24/7 shows. People watching it will be more turned off to the match than turned on. Second, in order to attract the casual fan, a fight still has to be a matchup with two top notch opponents. This is not. This is a case of a guy who has never been a draw and is now over the hill fighting a drug-abusing coward who has fought nothing but safe fights for the last two years. This fight will draw less than 1 million PPV's regardless of whether the 24/7 show is on CBS or HBO.
