Pacquiao THE greatest of all
time responses not so great

I wrote an articles voicing my
opinion on Manny Pacquiao and
being the all time greatest
fighter. As you could imagine, I
received many comments and
several Emails from the readers.
As I indicated in my article, this
topic is all a matter of opinion. I
voiced my opinion and even
with all of the nasty Emails from
those who disagreed with it, I
stand firm.
Most of those who disagree
with titling Pacquiao as the
greatest fighter of all time were
from the old school of boxing.
Many were fans of the sport
back when the American
fighters stood on top of the
mountain. This was the case
with 80 percent of those who
contacted me. So I have to ask
this question.....Would Manny
Pacquiao's top spot, with
everything that he has achieved
thus far be remotely questioned
if he were an American
fighter?
One hates to inject race into any
topic, but I am afraid that in this
case its a fair question. If
Manny Pacquiao was from
Boise, Idaho, or Philadelphia, PA,
or Boston, would the fans in
America question if Pacquiao
was the greatest of all time? 8
division world titles, and elected
to the US Congress? Come on,
there would be no doubt who
America thought was the
greatest of all time if Manny was
born in New York. I think race
plays a part in this. I do not
think it's matter of hate, I think
it's a matter of location.
I asked several folks in
Mississippi who they thought
was the greatest fighter of all
time. 7 out of 10 of them said
that it was Muhammad Ali.
Would the same 7 people
have voted for Muhammad Ali if
he were born in General Santos
City? No way.
Mississippi is a football state.
Most fans in this state are big
college football fans and big NFL
fans, and some are boxing fans.
If I asked Mississippians who
they thought was the greatest
football player of all time, many
would say Jerry Rice, the former
SF 49er Wide Receiver. If I
asked the same group who they
thought was the greatest QB of
all time, many would say Brett
Favre. Why would they say this?
Because both Jerry Rice and
Brett Favre are from Mississippi.
I guarantee you that if Manny
Pacquiao was born and raised in
middle America, he would
indeed be titled and written in
stone as the greatest fighter
that has ever lived.
I am not from the Philippines. I
am from Mahopac, New York
and I don't have a problem
giving Pacquiao the GOAT title.
He's clearly done enough inside
the ring to warrant such a
distinction. His outside of the
ring achievements stand on
their own as well.
Pacquiao in my humble opinion
is the greatest fighter of all time.
Well my point ,since you seem to have missed it, is that there is no use dreaming about different scenarios. Manny is Filipino and if he were Mexican the Mexicans would love him, or Dominican, the Dominicans would love him, and so on. His career is far from over and his legacy is not written yet. He doesn't seem to be worried about how people perceive his image why should you? In my opinion he golden oldie fighters will always be the best they dominated when boxing was on the rise. Everybody wanted to be champ of the world. People were just naturally tougher back then because they didn't have all this stuff to spoil them that we have today. I don't believe anybody in the same weight class today is going to beat a prime SRR and I think most hardcore fans agree with me. TS has his own opinions but he should respect everybody else's and stop whining because we don't hold the same one he does.
PS- If he was American he might not have even made it to where he is now.
Too add to this...the late SRR should not be compared to any boxer
He wasthe first to do what every fighter attempts to do and imo noone has ever reachedthe goals he has..
Who knows? but you off the topic here. TS stated if he was an American not pinoy, rican, mexican, etc.

I think there's nothing wrong for just telling the truth.
Maybe your truth. He is what he is today cause what he has been personally through. If you change anything he might be here.
When it comes down to it..manny isnt an african american hes a pinoy and thats why we love him..the fact that he comes from where he does and did what hes done is what makes him great so you shouldnt stray away from who he is and try to make him into someone else..( floyd ) ..
Manny coming from a less wealthy nation adds to his legacy
There's no way an American could say "I'm not going to take a tougher drug test because I feel that it weakens me" and then six months later switch his position yet still refuse full random testing. The media would crucify him. He gets a pass cause he's foreign, let's just be honest.
sonny liston mofo...you know who he is?....lol
IF is a pretty useless word sometimes. What IF Manny wasn't pinoy would you even care?
Who knows? but you off the topic here. TS stated if he was an American not pinoy, rican, mexican, etc.
These Pac haters are really pathetic. We are talking about Pac and all everything he achieved right now. I mean right now, right here at the very moment being a white or black American not asian! The truth is Pac being an Asian, he already gathered a lot of white Americans fans and white/black celebrities/famous people trekking at the Wild Card Gym or watched him fight live just to see him in person. Just take a look at those Pac fans famous celebrities like Mark Walbergh and many others that I lost count (I can post a links and many videos about his famous and celebrities fans). Just imagine if he was a black African American right here right now?
some people here has comprehension problem.
if Pac with 8 division titles and elected in the Congress who was born and raised here, he would be widely considered a GOAT..thats what the writers meant. it was a simple article that you guys are trying to twist.
pacquiao couldnt have accomplished what he's accomplished in todays game (titles from 112 to 154) if he fought in an earlier time
he's not that good.
could you honestly picture manny pacquiao defeating the WW's of the 80's? nevermind those guys moving up to 54.
he'd get murdered
he's avoiding a fight with sergio martinez that could potentially make him the MW champ
sergio martinez is a very good fighter but he's nowhere close to the league of any of the great MWs
ray leonard, tommy hearns, roberto duran
all these guys would murder pacquiao
manny's greatness comes from his ability to move up in weight and be competative with very good fighters
the truth is he docked miguel cotto two lbs when he could barely make ww
took margarito off two terrible performances
dusted a ghost of oscar de la hoya
knocked out ricky hatton in his last fight
manny is probably going to be rated in the top 20 or 15 by the real experts
maybe even the top 10
his greatness comes from the fact that he's a natural lw at this point in his career and he's starching solid opposition at ww and now 150
he's not even close to the greatest fighter of all time
he gets hit easily
he lost to a faded erik morales
drew twice essentially with marquez
avoided him for a rematch
he is not the GOAT
and that has nothing to do with the color of his skin or country of origin
if you think pacman is the GOAT you havnt watched enough boxing
It would end up being totally different just because of the upbringing, but lets just pretend for a second: Pac grows up in the worst hood in detroit, the dude is black instead of asian, he fights with the exact same style and his career takes the same path. He is still just as humble and gets elected to congress
Not only in is this 100% fantasy, but it's also 100% undeniable he'd be bigger then any boxer in American history. They'd have ****ing tv stations dedicated to the man. Nobody loves them some underdog like america. And a black guy doing all this crazy **** in the ring, with an amazing style, fighting these huge fools, getting elected to congress, and being humble to boot? Back the **** up, manny would own this country, real talk. We celebrate people who haven't done half as much **** as I just mentioned. He'd be on TMZ every night, he'd be meeting the president every other day, he'd be leading parades, he'd be speaking in front of millions on MLK day, he'd be on bet every other night, people would wear his cloths, the list goes on and on and on. He'd have every rapper, basketball player, football player on his jock, kicking it at his fights. It would be ****ing crazy, but hey, fantasy land usually is crazy.
Pacman is the most popular boxer on planet earth. Why isn't that good enough for U??He cherrypicks rather smartly & most people don't see it.Every fighter gets hated on,Floyd more than anyone.Be satisfied with what he has & stop expecting everyone to bow to him.If U think he's the greatest fighter of all time, good for U.Don't be mad because other people think he isn't.All I know is this,if Pacman was soooo friggin great, why wouldn't the 154lb champ that he is fight Martinez there??
The writer has a very strong point and speaks the truth. Whether we want to admit it or not. The majority of human races are all bs and preferred certain races or color of skin when it comes to decision, judgment, choices, preference, rooting for and many more. Some are trying hard to suppress or not to show it but at some point in our life it happens all the time. There are some posters here pretending they are some sort of unbiased or against in any racism but in real life they are just bunches of hypocrites.
The fact is...if Pac was an African American and Floyd was a Filipino, you think these flomos will still root for Floyd? NO WAY! And this is a fact the hypocrites will not admit!
Dude give it up, I don't know what country you live in but here in America, the underdog is always wanted by the people to do well.
This has nothing to do with Floyd, so stop trying to justify your argument with that dude, because all the success Manny has, has been without Floyd. Last time I checked, Manny's just as big as Floyd in the USA and Floyd was born here.
So your argument is stupid, if Manny was born here most people would've never heard of him because he would've just blend in with everybody else because Manny's story isn't because he has 8 world titles.
He's huge because he was born in the slums of a 3rd world country, overcame all the odds, now he's one of the richest people in the planet and he was elected to represent some of his people, soon he will be picked to represent all his people as president.
So garaunteeing that he would be bigger if he was born in the USA is retarded. :usa:
You called me stupid by telling the truth. Hypocrite.
Do you basic comprehension skills? I called you stupid because your logic goes both ways yet you don't even acknowledge it saying Flomos would be rooting for Pac, are you completely missing the fact that it also means that if Floyd was Filipino Pactards would be rooting for him as well? So your logic really isn't supporting your point since it goes both ways... You don't even know what 'hypocrite' means so stay in school.
Are you stupid? IT goes both ways pactard. Pactards will still be rooting for Floyd because his Filipino idiot, you actually think that all the Filipinos would be rooting for the American Pac? Keep dreaming dumb ass. These pactards are so stubborn its hilarious, btw they would be calling the American Pac a chicken sh!t for not taking the blood test. Both fighter's fans would be hypocrites but that's human nature.
