Both are Tyson victims with sexy records when they fought him.
I think I've heard that Tubbs was slick, and that his loss to Bowe was a bad decision.
I don't know anything about Tucker.
Please, give me some facts that will help separate them in my mind.
Tucker was tough and tall....a challenge for any HW of any era on his day. Hurt Tyson in their fight.
Tubbs was a fat bastard, but was indeed slick and actually had very fast hands.
Tubbs = 80s Odlanier Solis?
I had Tubbs narrowly beating a young Bowe. It was a rather dull fight that I don't really care to see again. Tubbs had fast hands and some skills, but also had problems with his lifestyle. Gluttony and drugs.
Tucker was a taller, rangy guy with decent skills. He won a close fight against Buster Douglas for the vacant IBF title, shortly before losing to Tyson. Tucker remained a ranked contender for awhile, maybe thanks to being with Don King.
Both guys were underachievers with their drug issues. From the fights I've seen of them, they appear to be decent contenders who held belts for awhile.
The 80s is known as the "Lost Era of Heavyweights" as it was filled with talented HWs who had issues maximizing their talents. Tim Witherspoon was a very good HW, but could also be lazy and unmotivated. Michael Dokes had fast hands and skills, but also drug issues. Pinklon Thomas was another guy who had issues with drugs in addition to being talented. Greg Page wasn't the most motivated guy either.
I guess it's fitting that Mike Tyson, another headcase who eventually squandered talent, closed out the 80s as HW champ.
Witherspoon was a tough bastard. He was hard to hurt when he came in out of shape and unmotivated.

Like Buster, pretty good on their days is how i would describe them....but like Buster had various problems and inconsistent.

Tony tubbs was a skilled fighter with a good jab, handspeed, and defense. I thought that bowe barely edged him in a close fight. Would rarely control his weight, and had drug problems. I think think that Tony Tucker was a massive underachiver he was 6'5 good power, good speed for a big man but he also had drug problems
