Should boxing pair down a few divisions or just keep it the way it is. Nowadays boxing has 17 divisions. Post and give an opinion. Here's my list for the realinement for 13 divisions cutting out 4 divisions
Heavyweight 200+
Cruiserweight 200lbs
Light Heavyweight 180lbs
Super Middleweight 170lbs
Middleweight 160lbs
Welterweight 150lbs
Super Lightweight 140lbs
Lightweight 130lbs
Featherweight 125lbs
Bantamweight 120lbs
Flyweight 115lbs
Light Flyweight 110lbs
Strawweight 105lbs
it's not really a big change but it cuts out most of the divisions with the super name attached. With the exception between cruiserweight and LW every division above Lightweight is every 10 pounds between divisions and every division under lightweight goes down to 5 pound between every division. Cutting the divisions down from 17 to 13 divisions. The divisions that got cut are junior middleweight, super featherweight, super bantamweight, and super flyweight. The titleholders in the divisions that got cut become the mandtory challanger in a higher or lower division of there chooseing if there is already a mandatory challanger in certain organzations then they become the #2 contender but are guanteed a title shot within one years time.
It would be nice if boxing would realine the divsions but the WBA would probably start making 4 to 5 titleholders per division making them the super duper undisputed diamond champion and the interim bronze champion.

Remove 105,115,and 168, or better yet just remove the 2 day weight and make it the morning of the fight so that these cheater are not wieghing 10 to 15 pounds heavier than the other guy

You forgot the greatest Hoax of all time "CATCHWEIGHT" :omfg:
I don't think so. You just wouldn't see as much jumping around divisions. You either fight in a certain division or you don't.
If boxers don't change their weight divisions, then all weight classes would become Hopkins type reigning. Klitschkos at HW beating bums, RJJ beating bums at LHW, Hopkins beating bums for 10 years at MW. Boxing would decline substantially. Most anticipated fights today are Klitschko-Haye, Pac-Floyd, all those guys naturally don't belong to the same weight class. Welterweight has been the most exciting division last few decades. All because champions coming from lower weight divisions and messing with the welterweight champions, like Duran, Whitaker, DLH, Pac, PBF, SSM. Most of these guys resume wasn't much impressive until they came to WW. Well I'd rather see Hopkins fighting at catchweight against DLH, Wright, Pavlik and moving around weights to challenge Tarver, Pascal, then sitting in his paper belts fighting bums.

190 Cruiserweight

Get rid of all the juniors and supers.
Have one champion per division.
Heavyweights have to start making weight.
A top 20 contenders for the champ type ranking system, for each division. Updated once every month.
You can have catchweight fights, but no catchweights for titles.
All of these things would make boxing better, and more popular in the mainstream in my opinion.
Edited..........................
Removing anything would just create catchweights left and right

Why do that?
Because I'm tired of seeing fat asses like Chris Arreola.
The Klitschko's both fight at or around 245. So this shouldn't be a problem at all for them.

Fighters have more opportunities now days to make money with all these different divisions and titles. I don't think it will ever be changed because of that. If I had it my way, I would cut down on all the different divisions too. I'd also like to see only one title belt for each division and make catch weights against the rules.
Im not a big fan of catchweights either. You dont see many points where they settle in between. Next fighters will start agreeing to having different sized gloves.

You've got to remember the division set up is there for the fighters safety.
Of course we would like to see bigger better fights i.e Enzo Macrinelli Vs Wlad Klit etc
Remember Henry Cooper Vs Ali ?? :O
Yes I didn't even think about the ppl that get picky about the catchweights but I figuered 13 divisions would be better and seperating them every 10lbs above 130lbs would make it harder for those boxers that jump up and down the scale all the time. And JM has had some great fighters pass through the division but the JM 154lbs division is a stepping stone between WW and MW and lately the division hasn't been all that great even though their has been a few title fights

I like the concept but for those that trip about catchweigts there would alot more catch weights with 10lbs seperating weight classes lightweight and above. Maybe catchweights would be more fair balanced.
