What do you mean by resume? wins over opponents or just opponents?
resume isn't just one thing. Wins would be wins, competition would be competition. Resume is who you fought, at what point it was in both of you careers, and what was the result. It's also trends in your careers and your fight choices.
For example, when oscar left 135, who was left at 135 that was considered a threat by knowledable boxing fans? He cleaned house.
When Floyd left 130-5 who was left? Spaddy, steve johnson, and undefeated popo who had ko'd all of his oppenents, and casa. 4 legit challenges.
You resume is professional experience that makes you qualified to do what you do in the workforce. Same thing in boxing.
So where can I watch more of Locche, only full fight I've seen of his was against Fuji, everything else has been small/ bad quality clips. Even through that I can say he had a great defense, but I'd like to see more. Love defensive fighters.
Hernandez was an excellent fighter.
Theres limited footage of this fight, someones probably got something in Latin America, just gotta hope this stuff gets made public sometimes.
Theres his second fight with Cervantes is on youtube but very bad quality though I've heard theres a better quality version somewhere, but if you wanna gage his skills this fight is not the best to judge, its not him at his best. Its pretty sad, a lot of footage of great fighters from Latin America around that time is missing, or was simply never filmed.

him against Former champ Carlos Hernandez
against Journeyman Gerardo Ferrat
against one of the bet 140lb fighters ever, Antonio Cervantes
not the best quality, buts it really all there is to go by.

oscar's resume doesn't shi t on floyd's? please answer
I don't recall saying anything about who was the greater fighter. did I forget and say something about who was greater?

I respect all great fighters and their resumes.
It is obvious to me, and obviously to you too, that J Ro just wants to slanders resume and accomplishments for whatever reason, I don't know. And I agree, Oscar has one of the greatest resumes of the last 20 years. Like I said - throwback to the old time greats.
I agreee that oscar has a great resume 1000% as does tito. I don't even really think that's debatable.
floyd mayweather has nowhere near a great resume, unless someone is the type of person who throws the word great around loosely. mayweather has a good resume at 130-135 and a DECENT at best resume from 140-154. cotto, margs, shane, pac, clottey all have better resumes because they basically all fought each other.
Not at all Floyd is clearly the greater fighter.

Dan I am aware that the guy is a tomato can but use your eyes to see the technique and the way he throws the punches. Answer me this - why is his jab full of crispness and able to be snapped back to defense in a fight with a tomato can, yet he could not throw a crisp jab to save his life against Pacquiao?
He has not shown signs of the technique he had in his prime in years!
Personally i believe although faded his technique isn't diminished in the Pacqiauo fight, the first 5 rounds he throws a crisp jab and crisp shots IMO. He just beats beaten by a better man and by the mid-late of the fight Pacqiauo has effectively beaten everything out of him.
My question is when was Cotto shot? I mean, did he really look shot in the Clottey fight? I don't think so, he didn't look like the Cotto prior to Margarito, but shot? Not as far as I'm concerned.
I agree with you Margarito literally snatched the prime out of Cotto, and Cotto was not the same fighter after that fight. But I personally don't believe he was shot. Faded? Yes, shot? No.
In fairness, this might be because Cotto is fighting an actual bum in that footage as opposed to fighting an ATG in Manny Pacqiauo. Just saying.

Now show me where in his fight with Pacquiao he showed consistent technique necessary to win a fight with Pac. It was not there. He was wide open to every punch, lacked movement, and had no crispness in his punches.

wow, seems like we're really nitpicking if we're arguing that oscar wouldn't fight the best.
I have no idea how carlos can respect oscar's resume and still respect floyd's resume.
is this a tito v oscar thing or is jro just trying to crush oscar's resume?
i tell you what, oscar's resume takes a gigantic, brontosaurus sized hangover dump on floyd's resume.

this is 100% not true, at least for the first 4-5 rounds. maybe you're talking about compared to manny's handspeed technique.
No.... In his prime Miguel Cotto had spectacular hand speed and crispy pin point punches. Marquez doesn't have the fastest handspeed in the world, and we all saw what he did to Manny. You don't need to have faster hands than him.
If you going to mention Vargas being juiced up then lets demand for Oscar to sign the waiver.
Vargas was never dropped before Tito then after Tito he gets dropped by a light punching Rivera. His chin was cracked. It happens
Cotto looked very good in the last couple rounds against Pac. He was actually competitive for the first 5 rounds(take away the knockdowns). Is after that when he looked somewhat faded. But, that could be due more to Pacquiao.
Cotto win over Foreman is better than any win Vargas got after Tito.
So for you to say that Vargas went on "to have great success for years to come" is asinine. But, whatever.
If you think Cotto was shot while Vargas at the top of his game so be it. It's just furthers my suspicion that you have no credibility.
Vargas continued to have as much success as he ever did. What don't you get? He was never an "elite" but he was a guy that could be talked about with the "elites" of his era. He was good enough to fight guys like Tito and Oscar and Mosley and be challenging, but was never good enough to beat them. I am not sure which part you are not getting. Do you watch fights or do you just study resumes? Watch Vargas in the DLh fight and you will see that he looks as good as he ever did. The fact is, he was just never great enough to beat top tier guys. You want to try and pretend that it is asinine to say Vargas had success simply because he wasn't able to come out and fight a guy like Oscar, or Mosley, or Trinidad and come up with a win, but the fact that he was able to fight guys like Mosley and go 10 rounds says a lot.
Vargas was a big 154 and he was on steroids when Oscar fought him. As others have pointed out you just want to dump on Oscars resume because you despise him for whatever reason.
Cotto looked good? lol, J Ro you have just proven what I have thought all along and that is that you know nothing about boxing and you are simply a Pactard in disguise who pretends to be open minded about boxing. Cotto may have been able to be competitive with Pacquiao but he was a shell of his former self. Let me take you back to Cotto's pro debut. Even as a green fighter just stepping up into the professional ranks, watch him cut off the ring like a 10 year pro, snap his jab off as quick as the best of the best and get his hands back into a defensive position. Watch him throw a lightning fast 2 punch combo and dip out of harms way just to come back with another well place pin point accurate punch.
Now show me where in his fight with Pacquiao he showed consistent technique necessary to win a fight with Pac. It was not there. He was wide open to every punch, lacked movement, and had no crispness in his punches.
Start watching fights instead of just reading about them and slamming every fighter.
Now watch Cotto that fought Pacquiao. Watch the lack of crispness in his punches, total lack of technique, and how slow he is in getting his punches off and how lackluster his left hook to the body is that he kept leading off with against Pacquiao. He just had nothing in him.

I happen to think Vargas looked as good as he ever did.... The fact is, he was just good enough to be talked about with the elites of his era, but he could never beat any of them, such is the case with Cotto... But if you watch Vargas against DLH, you will see the same fighter (even with steroids) that fought earlier in his career....

Watch the Cotto fight against Yuri Foreman.. It's the same thing. It wasn't until Yuri had his ACL torn in two that Miguel was able to bully him around, and even then I believe Yuri was getting the better of the exchanges that took place in the middle of the ring.
Cotto has had nothing left for quite some time. I don't know if it came from the success, or if it was from the beating he took at the hands of Margarito, but he is shot and has been for some time, and was so in going into his fight with Pacquiao.
I don't put too much emphasis on age, but the fact is that Vargas was in the prime of his career and only 25 years old when he fought Oscar and he was juiced up to the hilt.
I don't believe Vargas was the same fighter post Trinidad, still a legit fight and legit win for Oscar, I'm not taking nothing away from him. But it wasn't the same Vargas. JMO.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you about Cotto. I think Cotto showed he wasn't shot against Pacqiauo. He showed that he still has something left in the tank, although not the same as he once was. He hurt Pacqiauo when he landed and did sufficent damage to him in spots. The reason he looked so bad against Pacqiauo is because Pacqiauo is a terrible style matchup for him and Pacqiauo is simply better than Cotto.
I also disagree with your view of the Foreman fight.
We're going to have to agree to disagree my friend. I don't believe Cotto was shot and i don't believe Vargas was in his prime when he fought Oscar. But both wins are legit wins for either fighter.
wow, seems like we're really nitpicking if we're arguing that oscar wouldn't fight the best.
