ive always wondered why do most fighter start running so early,, how would it matter if they did their running later on in the day as long as all there exercises are performed?
Boxers feel it gives them a mental edge over there opponents knowing they are still in bed.
Less pollution is in the air in the morning, meaning it's better for your lungs to run early.
Nobody is around early in the morning so less obstacles in the way.
The air is fresh, and the tempatures are low, meaning it makes perfect time to run in the morning.
Coach potato's and their theories are hilarious.
Potatos? These are fans, not boxers themselves... Cut some slack buddy.
Whats your theory anyways?
Mine is this, you get to the last round of a big fight, your losing, your coach is sayin push yourself for this last round. Youve not been running like you should, there for when your coach/trainer says push the fight for this last round, you mentally give up as your not used to pushing the bounderies your body was made to be pushed to. The guy in the other corner has been up at 5.30 everyday for 8 weeks, hes mentally prepared to go this last round as he has been pushing himself for 8weeks anyways and thinks f.uck it, only one last push, this is easy. He is mentally strong and knocks you the f.uck out in that last round.
Just my thaughts.
Mayweather does his at night .I don't think it really matters tbh :boxing:

Plus i think Testosterone levels peak in the early morning
This along with the fact that the body is in "starvation mode" from a whole 8 hrs+ of sleep, so when you run it targets weight loss much faster and efficiently..
The air is cooler (it's more comfortable and gives u more of an insentive to run farther). There's no people in the way (taking into mind a lot of fighters live in big cities). And more notably its teaches u discipline and makes u mentally tougher. Having to get up that early just to run... HAH! I wouldn't be caught dead. And that's why I pay to watch other people box instead of getting paid to box.
you have no food in your stomach so your body uses the stores in fat as energy and results in your body burning more fat so you get in shape faster.. also no cars or nothing i do it but its hard getting up every morning extremly hard ! pluss now thats its 25 degrees here in nyc.
That's only part of it.
It's also very much a mental thing. Forcing yourself to get up at 5:30am to run when your body is saying **** that. You'd be surprised how the impacts your mental determination come fight time.
I agree with this.
Besides that, nothing beats breathing in that morning air.
flame me for this, but Teddy Atlas had a great point about the subject:
you wake up at 5 in the morning to run because you need to get used to doing things you don't want to do.
on a similar line of thought, was listening to navy seal who said similar things and that he starts his day with a COLD shower because it's the hardest thing to do and believe it fosters toughness in the brain. bs? who knows
thats why tyson's legs were similar to tree trunks...
I think it was pretty well known that Tyson (after Cus died) skipped the majority of his running sessions.
Tysons tree trunk legs came from genetics...just like of his power when he's knocking out grown men at 13 years old.
That's only part of it.
