Why do we need to pit these 2 great fights against each other? Just be thankful that we will get to see the best fighting the best, and not some garbage ppv that they've been shoving down our throats...
Montiel and Donaire has the chance to be even more explosive then Bradley-Alexander. However, I see both fights being great. With that being said, Bradley-Alexander will draw a bigger number. Both are American and both are being hyped up really well by HBO. Not to mention that both are in a more popular division and a division that is more HBO-friendly.
Hopefully, both do well.
What fight will generate a better rating on HBO Alexander/Bradley or Doniare/Montiel?
That one's a tough call but if I had to pick one, I'd slightly be in favor of the bout that receives the most amount of hype and "drama" from fans (from laymen to boxing aficionados).
So in that regard, I'm leaning more towards Donaire/ Montiel because of a few reasons:
1) Donaire alone has a huge following of Filipino fans from all over the world that believe he could be Pacquiao's successor or even the next Pacquiao.
2) All boxing fans (casual and hardcore alike) have been patiently waiting for Donaire to test himself against other elite fighters, other than Vic Darchinyan. Three to four years after their fight, we FINALLY get what we've been dying to see-a true test of his skill against an elite competitor.
3) There's also been some hype over Donaire being in the Top 3 P4P, so depending upon his next performance against Montiel, this fight could solidify his legitimacy to be mentioned amongst the very likes of Manny Pacquiao, Sergio Martinez and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the not so distant future (and no, I don't believe Nonito's in the Top 3 P4P just yet).
4) One last thing.. no one promotes their fighters better than Bob Arum (aka "The Drama King" who makes Don Kings efforts look like child's-play).
In conclusion, no matter how hardcore boxing followers may view Alexander and Bradley, drama and theatrics will always take the cake when trying to generate public appeal.
Both of the Fights are capable to be a hit this year!
But, then emotionally, the Mexican vs Philippine in Boxing seems to be more attractive and popular.
higher ratings should be devon-tim... both are americans and the promotions been running for quite sometime now...
but montiel-donaire will be a war... someone's head will roll on this one... pretty exciting fight given its from the lower weights...
Alexander-Bradley is WCB and will be promoted more.
Donaire-Montiel is BAD and will be promoted less.
Without question Devon-Timmy
Donaire vs. Montiel is deserving of the WCB treatment.
****ed up :smashfrea considering this is a BIG fight (two top 10 P4P-ers)
but oh well, at least we get to see it
probably alexander/bradley cause theyre both american fighters with a lot of hype behind them. both of the fights are going to be great, thats all i know, can't for this shiet to go down!

I find it rather redundant to compare these 2 fights to each other.IMO,between these 2 fights & these 4 fighters the level of skill, talent & ranking are far superior to that of top ranks 2 ppv fights. We get arguably the 2 top fighters in 2 divisions squaring off on network hbo, instead of finding away to take away from these fights,we should rally around them, educate the casual fan & turn them on to what hard core fans crave.
I totally agree... These fights will be so intriguing because of the high caliber fighters fighting each other. Wow I just can't wait.
you just explained how great these fights will be which i agree but the thread is about ratings, not how great the fights will be.
thats why these fights aren't on ppv, because ppv's is all about ratings not about how great the fights will be.
why is 2 garbage fights like pac/mosley and cotto/mayorga on ppv? because of the high ratings pac and cotto produce, not because of how great the fights will actually be.
Ok.. I thought you were talking about the fighters level in the sport and that they were nobodies.. Misunderstanding on my part.

2 of which who are fighting each other are among the best in the world lb for lb skill for skill... You must not be a boxing fan to say this... Bradley/Alexander is also a pitting of high caliber athletes and fighters... All in all these are great fights specially the montiel/Donaire which is a battle of elite fighters and those who say differntly don't know boxing.

Bradley-Alexander easily.
Donaire-Montiel is BAD? I'm just cringing right now at the thought of Kellerman's 'rundown' of the 118lb weightclass.
Yeah at least the undercard is decent... I was high on jones but I don't know about him anymore.
should be bradley/alexander because they are getting more promotion but either way all for guys are nobodies.
