andre ward is american which means he doesnt like fighting away home.
khan is trying to forge a career on the road, so the risks are not in his favour.
andre ward doesnt know how to get out of his village, so he's safe. khans chin is slightly better than it once was, but he's on the road so things dont seem as favourable.
khan may be the flashier guy, but i think ward is clearly the much smarter technical consistent fighter. khan seems to fight 1 minute out of the round and take the rest off. he flurries a lot. i'm not sure how good his defense when he isn't relying on his footspeed.
Agreed.
Right now, Ward's resume is pretty thin outside of the Kessler fight, and there are still questions about his chin (maybe the early troubles were him cutting too much weight), but I'm choosing him based on him being the more well-rounded fighter who just seems more comfortable and "natural" in there. I mean natural in the sense that Khan tends to look jittery in there, looking like he's thinking what to do, while Ward's moves just seem to flow more naturally and smoothly.
If you were to just look at the physical side of things, Khan has the edge. He's faster and has that frame where he looks like he can fight in numerous weight classes. But he has so many flaws, and is getting by a lot on physical gifts rather than skills. And not in the Muhammad Ali/Roy Jones like "I'm breaking the rules but I'm so gifted I can get away with it and make it work." As we saw against Maidana, and earlier fights, he was paying for his flaws. He has very little inside game, and not really much mid range either. Just a long range guy. He doesn't move his head enough or parry shots that effectively, his defense is basically his feet. And despite having fast feet, his footwork isn't good.
Ward is effective at different ranges, up close with that ugly style, and at a distance. Unfortunately he lacks power. Seems to lack a real snap/thud in his punches. He also needs to fight away from Oakland, it isn't right if he gets another tournament fight at home. But due to the reasons above, I expect him to have a better career, at least in terms of inside-the-ring-performance, if not box office appeal, than Khan.
Kahn is probably going to be the bigger draw, but Ward will likely have the better record. So I guess it all depends on what you consider to be a better career.

Yeah because he is only gonna fight once next year lol. Nuff said
is lamont petterson a better fighter then froch and abraham? i ddnt think so gtfo and stfu:thanks:
Ward is almost 27
Khan is 24
Both are still young in my book and these gents have bright future in boxing. Too early to say though who is going to have a better career record.

I think Khan will be able to move up and down weights winning titles alot easier than Ward, I dont see Ward going up to light heavyweight.
So I will go with Khan just because Khan can move up the weight divisions and be a p4p fighter.
Nah, ward is nearly 27, when he was Khans age he hadn't fought miranda yet and was fighting at domestic level.
Khan is a world champ with 3 title defences, and is one fight away from possibly unifying the division
in the real world 24 and 27 aint much difference but you can do a lot in that time
thanks for correcting me ure absolutely right :beerchug:
its interesting because they both were olympians in the same year and even though khan turned pro a little later their records are very identical
guess time will tell if their careers will be too
andre ward should have a better career...he's more versatile than people give him credit for and already has a very impressive resume much more so than khan and both are practically the same age
just dont see that khan chin holding up especially if he decides to move up
andre ward is the real deal khan is the cash cow basically. Wards resume is by the end of the year will be abraham froch ( who will beat johnson) top heavy punchers and 2012 prolly bute. Khans next year will be lamont petterson. enuff said.

Khan is overrated!!! Ward is the real deal!!
If using corrupt refs and head butting your opponents into retirement is the real deal, then yeah, id go with andre.
