ever since their last fight i've had this fight in my head. I honestly wasn't very impressed with Ortiz or Khan but saw that they both had advantages and flaws that they could take advantage of.
I'm beginning to think that Khan is very much like Paul Williams in the sense that they both have incredible skill and physical advantages, but i think once Khan faces a fighter who can bang and hold his own in a boxing match, his flaws will be exploited. Maidana was losing badly, and was still able to get to him.
Ortiz's shine is gone as the next big thing in the sport, but he's still a solid fighter with power, speed, and boxing ability, IMHO he just lacks the killer instinct most great fighters have. He looked good not great against Peterson but was still being outboxed at times, then again Peterson shouldn't be looked at as anything less then a top fighter.
I hope this fight gets made, cause I think that if it did it would make for a great one, and it would bring a lot out of both fighters. Sure Khan could outwork and outbox Ortiz but Ortiz could make things very uncomfortable for Khan and hit him with some hard shots he never saw coming.
I'm not saying this fight couldn't be a onesided borefest cause these day, according to some, most fights are, just that it has the making of being a great fight between 2 of the best fighters in their division.
Ortiz goes out to clubs and drinks during training camp...that's why he looked sloppy against Peterson...he had nice/crisp short punches before that...he needs to get focused before considering fighting top fighters...
i think khan would beat him, didnt he beat ortiz in the amateurs aswell? i know its different but it still gives khan the confidence that he can beat him.
Yeah he did, and by 2nd round stoppage i think, AM fights dont mean shiit really, look at Tyson vs Tillman for example but when ur talking about a mental midget like Ortiz then i think it will definatley effect his confidence

No way I never see this when people bring it up, it is not an even match up especially now since I see khan in there with maidana. Ortiz just isn't the fighter he was cracked up to be, he is very good and I thought the maidana loss was just a blip initially, but the kid really hasn't got it upstairs. He is astonishingly easy to hit, and I mean by guys that aren't even that accurate. He doesn't throw any particularly effective straight punches he needs to be close to his opponent to get off with hooks, he has good speed, but lamont peterson showed he was faster which does not bode well for ortiz against khan who is phenomenally quick. He is decent enough technically but khan will murder him with his speed, and up the middle.
At the very highest level, khan is a tough kid like maidana, and bradley all these guys are mentally top level as well as physically, ortiz imo is not. When the going gets tough he looks for a way out, he has looked for a way out in gym wars and sparring. Things against khan will get very tough very quickly for ortiz, I think he gets stopped mid rounds from accumulation of damage most likely on his stool.
I believe that this would b a truth test for Ortiz, one last oppurtunity to prove that he has at least some heart, i was looking forward to the peterson bout for this very reason but he disappointed me, imo Khan would take this fight by a late stoppage on accumulation.
Khan has beaten ortiz in the junior olympics as amatuers so that past scenario would definitely make an impact especialy how ortiz is already weak as it is.
I think Ortiz is Khans toughest fight in the 140 division but if i think right now Khan breaks his heart with his jab, backs himn up and gives him a beating! Victor needs to get his confidence up first THEN we gotta F.I.G.H.T!
Id like to see Vic get the Judah fight, look great in getting the KO, then rematch Maidana - WIN and be back to 100% for a shot at Amir! Easier said than done but i think he has it in him
That would be an awesome fight, they're both fast, they both have power!!Khan is a little better technically & slightly bigger, but Ortiz is a little more sturdy,I don't know who would win,but I'll say that either Ortiz is gonna quit or Khan is gonna get ko'd,make it happen.
i think Ortiz might have been ruined by Maidana as he just seems to lack that champions mentality of never say die, BUT he can move, can box & can bang.
I would actually fancy his chances of stopping Khan. this is a fight i dont think will ever get made. i know Khan has beaten him in the amateurs, but whilst i think Ortiz has some serious flaws mentally i think he has all the tools to beat Khan actually if he turns up with the right mindset.
