Has this fight been confirmed? I think its pointless...Mayorga has done nothing of late...
At least fight a contender or he should go get Bundrage's belt(think the IBF)...
Wonder if he's still working with Emmanuel...
Does anyone wanna see this fight?
MAYORGA HASN'T FOUGHT N A WHILE SINCE TRYING MMA COTTO SHOULD'VE WENT AFTER Alfredo "Perro" Angulo/Saul "Canelo" Alvarez/Cornelius "K9" Bundrage
He fought in December, actually.
I'm just wondering how in he holy hell Mayorga is going to make 154. I think that fact alone would make this an easy fight for Cotto along with the fact that Mayorga is way way way past his prime.
As a Cotto fan, I'm just overall disappointed with this whole fight. Disappointed with the opponent and disappointed with it being on PPV.
mayorga wont make it to the second half
the only one that will have lost stock after this fight is shane mosley for struggling like he did
Aww Panda, I saw you in the park with your kids

Mayorga is the style of fighter that gives Cotto hell,I'm really thinking that an upset is in the making!!Mayorga is bigger, stronger, has the better chin & better stamina!!Cotto has better boxing skills but he starts to fade in the second half of fights. If I were in Miguel's corner Mayorga is not the fighter I would have chosen!!
better chin and stamina are very debatable
Don't forget that Cotto just came off surgery to repair a broken vagina too. I'm just going by what his fans are saying to excuse this fight with Mayorga.
 Damn...
I guess if its a tuneup for a BIG fight then its not as bad...it being on PPV is ridiculous tho...
Cotto-Martirosyan wudda been interesting...
He's just following the Top Rank motto of fighting once good fighters on the slide. Next step is bringing him up to 160-168 against the divisions easiest and wallah, ATG status.
154: Foreman, Mayorga
160: Peter Manfredo Jr or Chavez Jr for a title
168: Shot to shit Edison Miranda
Top 10 ATG Miguel Cotto.

I agree...but you don't. Why? Because you said you believe it's either pay $40 for a tuneup or there's no fight. I say don't pay if those are your choices. Stream, bootleg, whatever. Do that enough and then maybe they'll get the message and you'll get some real options.
I personally don't have wanting to try and send a message to the promoters.
I understand the line of thinking. I just don't care enough. If I wanna see a fight, I'll buy it. If I don't buy it, I don't care about it enough to watch a stream that breaks up here and there.
I do understand the logic though....I see where you're coming from now.
If the consumer wants to see a Cotto fight, it is his or her right to pay $40 for it.
Outside of proposing an upheaval to the way the boxing business work, I'm not sure where you're trying to go with this. To me, having an option is better than not having an option, especially when I'm not the one risking money on it.
Either way, we're running in circles, might as well agree to disagree.
Puerto Ricans are going to watch this fight because they support Cotto.. Besides the target audience are Puerto Ricans just like in any of his tune-up fights. There is some nationalistic theme when it comes to foreign fighter.. the way Canadians support Pascal, British support Hatton, Filipinos support Pac, and now Puerto Ricans support Cotto...

The only reason not being able to watch it is the alternative is because the mindset of the consumer is that it's ok to spend $40 on a tuneup. That circular argument is totally devoid of logic. The bottom line is that there is nothing good about a tuneup for $40. Nothing. I'd rather a thief pass me by then rob me but hey, I guess that's just me.

It is when the alternative is not being able to watch it at all. And the card will probably be decent top to bottom.
Having a problem with the fight is one thing. That I can understand.
Having a problem with it being on PPV? I just don't see what the better option is.

Bob arum is the reason alot of these fights are not getting made. Your just too stupid, blind, and drunk to see.
So what does that have to do with your statement of:
Bob Arum doesn't want him to fight Mayweather because he knows Mayweather vs Cotto would out sell Pac vs Mosley any day.
He is taking all of Mayweather 's options away.
In fact, what does that have to do with this thread..
My friend, $40 for a tuneup isn't a true service to our sport.

It's purposely a tune up for the Margarito fight. Not a good enough fight for HBO to pick up...something I totally understand, so he's putting it on PPV.
Again, nothing wrong with it. It's a true service to our sport. Without all the Latin Fury's and all the other independent PPV's, how often would we be able to see Donaire, Soto, Montiel, and other great fighters that would hardly have a chance at getting picked up by a network.

There are other options but Arum won't ever entertain them. Why should he? He's convinced the masses that paying $40 for a tuneup is good.

Yeah, you should do that so you wont sound so stupid...
