Imo Prince was nearly unbeatable when he was in his prime Reckon he would hav koed barrera if barrera had accepted the offer warren gave him before and not waited for naz to go downhill
Jones didn't knock Barrera out. Besides, Barrera was not the same fighter he was in '96.
Just as good as, he knocked him down and Barreras corner jumped in the ring to save their fighter so he was DQ'd but it was as good as a knockout really. would have been a TKO if they didnt enter the ring,
how do u not train for the biggest fight of your career thats naseems fault !!
That is his fault and no one elses, you're right. He did have terrible pains in his hands towards the end of his career though which must have impacted on his training as well.
I dont think he is a wasted talent at all. He was THE dominanted featherweight of the 90's and people still talk about him.
He beat many world champions and held his title for 6 years.
IMO his cocky arrogant attitude is what made him fight the way he did, but also caused him to think he could KO everyone and ultimately get beaten.
Absolutely, I agree and that contributed to his downfall against MAB.
Hamed will go down as 1 of the great wasted talents end of... I know But if they fought before in my opinion he would hav and thats jus my opinion

Most people on this forum know little about Hamed apart from the Barrera fight.
Prime Naz was long gone by the time he got to Barrera. True, Barrera was the best opponent he fought and would have been a tough fight at any point in his career, but this was Hamed at his worst and Barrera at his best. He barely trained, his reflexes had slowed, his evasive defense of old was non-existent and he relied entirely on his power.
Back with Brendan Ingle when Naz was hungry, he was a truly special fighter. Barrera's great, but prime Naz would have beaten him IMO.
A fully focused on Boxing Naseem Hamed would have beaten Barrera, knocked him out, I mean come on guys Junior Jones knocked Barrera out, unfortunately because Hamed saw that fight (ring-side) he didn't have any focus, he just figured if he landed 1 good shot it would be over,
unfortunately, he didn't barely train for the fight (only did half a days sparring) and Barrera trained for the fight of his life, Barrera fought the best he ever did, Hamed the worst he ever did and still wasn't knocked down, he lost a lot of rounds but he only lost the fight on points.
It's a shame but Naseem Hamed was more interested in promoting Islam that night then he was winning the bout so that's what he concentrated on because he beleived a KO win was a formality.
He said in an interview a year or so later that although that was his only loss it felt like his biggest victory as it was the night he promoted Islam to the world,
if you don't believe me there is a book about it called Naseem Hamed and those he left behind, unfortunately the whole book is terrible except for the very last chapter.

You can't be as quick when you can hardly train.
I respect MAB a lot. But regardless of the opposition Naz fought between 95-98, that was when he was at his best with Brendan Ingle as his trainer.
Would MAB of still beaten Naz during that period? Yes he may well of done. But, in my opinion and it is only my opinion, the Prince would of given him a much tougher night.
The actual fight in 2001 was not an embarassment either like has been stated. Losing approx 8 rounds to 4 to an ATG prime Barrera is NOT an embarassment.

We never really got to see a prime Hamed because as far as I could tell he was on a downward spiral from his early pro years. A cliche i may seem but he had the athleticism to be a RJJ of the lower weight classes. Great reflexes, thunderous power and a natural at punching people in the face, fitted the Ingle style perfectly.
If only he kept the workrate up in between fights. I know there's plenty of people here who think we Brits talk silly about Hamed, but he was a talent - the Gascoigne of boxing.
retard
paqiaou is not a 1punch knockout artist and paqiaou is a lil weight draining shot fyting twat i h8 the way he beats ppl who already lose on the scales
bruv prince droppeed a guy with the 1st punch in the 1st fkin round said lawal 17-0 or sumfing
naseem had the power to ko anybody in the featherweight division thats why hes on ring mazagine hardest punchers
erik morales wouldnt withstand the power of the prince if caught properly just like evrybody else
1st off Morales couldve taken Naz's power shots he had a cast iron chin, 2nd its highly unlikely he wouldve caught Morales cleanly, he didnt come remotely close to landing anything significant on Barrera coz these boys are in a higher league, he wasnt prepared for that step up, someone who wasnt intimidated or mezmerised or as easy to hit
yh i seen the big fight little prince
naseem was acting as if he was on vaction and he payed for it so all the ppl who said prince was prepared blah blah thats bull****...
retardMorales was fragile?huh. The same one that beat Pac. There must be some other Morales I dont know about.

Yet he decided to retire instead of trying to redeem himself which says it all. If he wasnt conditioned for the fight he could of fought a rematch and train properly and won like you said but no he decided to retire for a reason.
He had big problems with pains in his hands though. This contributed to the lack of training towards the end of his career. That is the reason he gives for retiring at 28 along with he wanted to spend more time with his 3 young sons.
Look, Hamed will not go down as an ATG like Barrera I appreciate that. But, when people say he was at his best when he fought Barrera that is quite simply not true. The lack of training was partly down to hand problems and believing too much in his power, with the latter being Hamed's mistake no-one else's. Steward is a great trainer but it was a big mistake splitting from Ingle. Naz's style was unique and that was all because of Ingle. And that was when he was at his best between 95-98 regardless of the opposition he fought. Would Barrera still have beaten him, maybe because he was very skillful fighter, but no way would he have been given a relatively easy night like he had at the MGM..
Kumon man why would he call them out and then create an excuses? he fought augie the biggest lookin featherweight i seen who beat floyd and duck erik morales n barrera and erik cudnt handle mannys punches neva mind princes he would hav koed morales he was too fragile barrera stuck to his game plan it payed off buh if he fought the way he did against morales he would hav got koed
if Barrera beat Hamed the way he did Morales would of destroyed Hamed
Morales was a beast and Hamed would of just tried to clown around Morales
and Morales actually fights better when he is mad and would of knocked his azz out Hamed was good not that special Soto and Medina were good too but not the level of Morales and Barrera these guys were elites oh and Morales beat Pac and the reason the last two fights ended the way they did
Morales was gone done specially the third fight oh and Hamed would of cried out the ring when pac was done with him so dont go there by the way Hamed ducked Marquez like a Fly on Sh`it
he wasnt with warren for that fight. but hey, dont let facts get in the way of your agenda
true, forgot about that, but the model was set, it was the same match making ideals. either way, i for the life of me can not accept hamed as a great, although his achievements are REALLY good, i just don't hold the sentiment that he is great based solely on what he did after his first loss......
and it seems that after hamed split up with warren, he had his toughest fights, minus sanchez, even though augie put him on the canvas....
not to forget, sanchez was still giving hamed fits up until hamed pulled a classic " hit on a clean break" that rocked augie and he was out on his feet after that.
i was training in augies gym at that time and he was setup like a prize pig if you ask me.
anywho, sanchez was a prime example of how warren would build up hamed and the rest of his fighters. he was a chinny guy with a decent punch, decent looking record, and wasn't ready for that kind of fight yet....
.
