Paul just got caught. One thing about boxing, there are some things that you can teach in the gym, and there are some things that you can't.
You can't teach defending a punch that you can't see coming. You can't teach against that. People might say, 'Well, you should have done this,' or, 'You should have done that.'
But that's because their understanding is limited. If you can't see something, how can you defend against it?
We knew that the only chance that Sergio Martinez had was to stop Paul. And, sure enough, in desperation, and with his eyes closed, just ducking his head and throwing a punch, he landed.
When Sergio Martinez landed that punch, he didn't even know that it had landed. Sergio Martinez was just as surprised as everybody else, that's the way that I saw him.

Nice to hear from the Williams team finally, but he needs a new trainer.
Everyone should get ready to see Paul get Ko'd a lot more often because he isn't switching trainers. He and Mr. Peterson will probably be together throughout their careers.
If you can't see something how are you supposed to defend against it?
Williams' trainer is talking as if Martinez has superman speed. He's fast but that doesn't mean you can't defend against his punches. Having an actual defence and not walking into your opponent with your hands down and facing the opposite direction will usually help against the punches you 'don't see'. Williams desperately needs to tighten up his defence and learn to box a little more patiently or he will start getting knocked out more often. He can't rely on his chin either. Martinez destroyed him, and Cintron had him hurt as well.
Martinez was simply wincing. He threw while trying to keep his head away from Williams. He was anticipating a punch and so naturally winced to prepare for it.
2 WORDS PAUL: EMMANUEL STEWARD
or a trainer who makes you fight your height instead of hunching down.
how can i guy with his reach not use a jab effectivly. ****in heavyweight reach, no fighter should be touching him
williams trainer must not had noticed the same exact punch land twice in the same round before puttin williams out

and paul layed down with his eyes open......lolOn A Side Note: Sure he closed his eye's, right after he timed it perfect...:bottle:
The impact caused Martinez to blink. It's understandable. It was like his fist was in a car accident.
When Sergio Martinez landed that punch, he didn't even know that it had landed. Sergio Martinez was just as surprised as everybody else, that's the way that I saw him.
How could anyone possibly say this? You could hear that punch from 100 miles away. It sounded like a gun going off. Martinez didn't even bother to look at Williams fall. How could he possibly not know it was a KO right away, let alone know it at least hit.
So what he is saying is that Williams lost to a guy fighting with his eyes closed. That to me says a lot more about Williams than it does Sergio, he was sloppy and dumb enough to get caught with a guy closing his eyes.
theres no doubt that was a lucky punch williams just got caught thinking he was invincible but if they fought again that punch isnt landing, that much I can guarantee and most likely :unitedsta will win
