Can we all agree that the Mosley Pac is going to fight is still just as shot as the Mosley PBF faced? Or are some people going to argue that beating a 38 year old Mosley is a career defining win, while beating a 39 year old Mosley is the same as beating Freddy Hernandez? That the reason Mosley looked so bad is because PBF was so superior, but the reason he will look bad against Pac is because he turned 39.
Let's all give credit to PBF for taking the fight, but realize that the Shane he faced turned out to be a shell of his former self after 18 months out of the ring.
going up in weight also means you gotta face fighters who can take more punches than in the lower weight.
marquez has zero advantages going in against floyd as it was, and he still got cheated in the weight.
floyd's win against floyd is not anything more than a tune up.
Floyd said it himself.
Mosley is the same fighter. Floyd didn't do anything Winky and Vernon hadn't done, it's just giving the right opponent (Vargas, Margarito etc) Shane will look like a beast.
Put him in with a boxer with movement/defense then he will look his age.
Truth be told, if you take away the knockout, Mosley looked worse against Mayorga than he did against Mora.
Still I feel he was a top 3 WW when he fought Floyd and is still a top 5 WW even at this stage of his career.
Mosely that FMJ fought= 38 years old, #1 WW and #3 P4P, WW champion and coming off a career rejuvenating KO win over then champ Marg. But still at the end of his career.
Mosely that Pac will fight= 39 years old, #5 WW not in P4P rankings(top 10), not a champion, coming off embarrassing loss to FMJ and gift draw to Mora in which he look horrible. And also should be retired.
Those who cannot see that those two fights took what was left of Mosley are not seeing reality. And its a sad state of affairs that the boxing world is allowing this for money. Even though this is a contact sport where people get hurt, Mosley's chances of serious injury are a lot higher because of his age and his diminished abilities.
14 months without a fight before facing Mayweather. Almost of 2 months of training against Berto, figtht cancelled, rest a couple fo weeks, then 2 months of training for Mayweather. Bascially, overtraining.
He only went up 7 pounds. He even came in at 148 which indicated that he had to train down to 142. His speed was the same.

It might be true, but one way or another it doesn't make Pacquiao look better.
Even if he was shot when he fought Floyd, most of the mainstream media wasn't opposed to that fight happening.

NOPE.
When you are going downhil, you go fast.
Think about the rematch of Jones Tarver...and the third fight. Or everything after.
Fighters don't age slowly...when you go, you tend to go fast.
That is where the old boxing adage of "aging overnight" comes from.
You are a stupid moronic and ignorant idiot!!! The Mosley that almost KOd the Wifebeater Floyd was inactive for 17 months, the longest of any welterweight champion in history.
You're not very bright, are you?
He only went up 7 pounds. He even came in at 148 which indicated that he had to train down to 142. His speed was the same.
duh? did you even watch the fight? or you have your eyes fixed on floyd's balls?
Height is an advantage....
But, does height give you an edge when you're bent over to your shorter opponents level?
Get it... dum dum... you have to USE your advantage in order for it to give you an edge in a fight. Perhaps I was sent to these forums to educate you morons on this beautiful ****ing sport.
lmao that's what happened with people who have to drop school for being so dumb. advantage is synonymous with edge for your information. anything that gives you an edge is an advantage. or you can flip it over...anything that gives you an advantage is an edge. you can't call anything an advantage/edge if you don't use it moron.
The Shane Mosley that Floyd fought was coming off a dominating KO, was the #1 WW and #3 p4p fighter in the world.
Pacquiao is fighting Mosley who lost 11 out of 12 rounds against Mayweather and then went on to draw against a former reality TV star in one of the poorer fights of the year. Pacquiao is going to do terrible things to Mosley if Nazim doesn't throw in the towel early.
If you think that the "two mosleys" are similiar then you are just straight up ignorant.
i disagree.
marquez looked small compared to the other lightweights. he's not even making the 135 limit in his fights.
going up in weight matters. He only went up 7 pounds. He even came in at 148 which indicated that he had to train down to 142. His speed was the same.
You can't blame Marquez' age if he just beat a much younger Katsidis and Diaz. Again, how did Floyd's weight advantage benefit him in that fight? I did not see a speed reduction in Marquez' hands in the Mayweather fight at all compared to his previous fights or later ones. He was not slower... he was just slower than Floyd.
Do I have to make an entire thread breaking down to you people how weight did not make a difference in that fight? I just recently make an account on this site and I see right away that the vast majority of people on this site are not thoroughly able to analyze what they see inside the ring.

what a fucking moron. so it's an advantage but not an edge is that what you're trying to say? gtfoh noob.Height is an advantage....

i couldve sworn it was floyd who i saw almost 'died' in the 2nd round.
how can mosley 'die' of potshots?
It's easy to laugh and makes jokes.
These people put their lives on the line for your enjoyment.
Show a little respect.
Wonder if jumping 2 weight classes had anything to do with it?
How do you think a 37 year old Floyd would look against say present Martinez at 160?
And Shane is done, has nothing to do with opponents. The man tires out and starts gasping for air after 3 rounds. He was throwing pitty pat punches at Mora with nothing behind them, no speed or power.

I don't think you realise Mosley could have died when he fought Floyd.
It's extremly dangerous to come back and fight after such a long lay off, only the greats can do it.
i couldve sworn it was floyd who i saw almost 'died' in the 2nd round.
how can mosley 'die' of potshots?
Explain how Floyd's weight advantage gave him an edge in that fight.
