Seriously. This guy is old f_cking school. His place in history was sealed even if he had have retired after losing the Middleweight title to Jermain Taylor.
What he has done in the 5 years since then is f_cking outstanding. And remarkable for a man of his age. Moved up in weight. Schooled the lineal 175lb champion Antonio Tarver. Schooled the undefeated former lineal 154lb champion Winky Wright. Schooled the lineal 160lb champion Kelly Pavlik. Schooled Enrique Ornelas. Schooled Roy Jones Jr. Schooled the lineal 175lb champion Jean Pascal. Gave unbeaten great, and lineal 168lb champion Joe Calzaghe the toughest fight of his career.
What next for this modern day living legend?!
LOL! Roy Jones was smaller, Echols, Road Warrior, Holmes, Tarver, Pascal, JoCal, all the other guys at MW (besides oscar and trinidad). all smaller.
hopkins was always a lightheavyweight who lost to everbody his size with equal talent (tarver, jones, calzaghe, taylor) except for tarver...1 cat he beat without a doubt...tarver....thats it
everybody else was smaller...the the weak-ass middleweights, all the catchweight middleweights (including winky and pavlik), all the blown up jr. welters and welters, were smaller...
man i've given him some credit for finally making a fight with a natural lightheavy after years of catchweight fights against smaller men, and he still dodged dawson for years for whatever bs reasoning, now it was so easy to make a fight with pascal, who he obviously felt he could exploit and beat easy, and it backfired....tough s**t...
i plan on watching that fight after i'm tanked up on red bulls, but my point is valid...its the same old same...hopkins was behind by knockdowns in the other guys hometown, and didn't seal the deal with a ko, and he and his *****boy fans *****ed about the outcome...wash, rinse, and repeat....
Watch the ****in fight "boxing fan".
I can't take you seriously unless you actually watched the fight.
Even someone like me, who dogs on Bernard for the same reasons you do... could still come on here and give him 100% props for his performance at 45 years old.

lol...i don't have to see to know what happened...he got behind, needed a comeback and didn't seal the deal with a ko....then every hopkins ballicker comes on here and whines....same ol same....
even if he truly deserved the decision here...doesn't erase the fact that hopkins whole career has been spent fighting smaller men to overrated accolades...

you're opinion on hopkins means shi t. you were dogging his fight with pascal and you admitted YOU DIDN'T EVEN SEE IT!
get the fuk with your hate.

hopkins and his bit**boy fans should pick up the dictionary and study the definition of sportsmanship...
he actually fights somebody his size or bigger with equal talent...

Lets put BH into perspective. Its not that when he was young he was outstanding beyond belief. Its more than he has deteriorated less slowly as he got older. He is pretty much close to what he always was.
He lost when he was younger as well, so its not as if it is anything more complicated than his skills havent gone down much compared to other 45 year olds. Which in itself is great, and is the main area of topic regards BH.
But history will show he lost to JC
Most defenses of the middleweight championship in history.
Unified the middleweight championship.
Ruled a division for a decade.
In the days of guys jumping around different weights and cherrypicking titles, I think these kinds of performances and careers are becoming a thing of the past. but these are what really makes a fighter great. In order to rule a division, you have to fight guys of every conceivable style from all over the world, instead of just selecting who you want to fight.
Then Hopkins begins a historic run of accomplishing everything he has past the age of 40, which means he accomplished greatness one way and now has accomplished greatness again.
And I think he lost the JoCal fight by a slim margin. so what? There's no shame in losing to Calzaghe.
Bhop fought Roy Jones 1, JoeCal, Trinidad, Pascal, Pavlik, Glen Johnson, JT.
When they fought, their combined records were 220-1. (Courtesy of Doug Fischer). Put that into perspective

Undefeated?
But history will show he lost to JC
Luckily boxing footage will not be lost throughout time and people will be able to analyze the fight themselves and see who really won.

Mohammad Ali and even Floyd Mayweather jr. were all boasting and claimed:
"I am the Greatest!"
I haven't heard, nor, read an article wherein Bernard Hopkins said:
"I am the Greatest!"
So what makes a person boast that he is "The Greatest!"
His talents and Skills?
Good for how many years?
After that they got sick, or flunges to oblivion due to Troubles in thier life.
I still remember the lead actor of SUPERMAN - Christopher Reeves, accidentally falls from horse back riding, and the so called SUPERMAN got incapacitated from neck downwards and later on died.
So whats the CRITERIA of having a Boxer being nominated as GREATEST?
