Heard Ricardo Cordoba's name come up today as a possible opponent for Yuriorkis Gamboa on HBO in March.
How does NSB feel about this potential match-up?
Yes, but arum mentioned Salido too. Juanma and Gamboa will fight 2 gimmies, arum will not risk his fight in june
They aren't even going to have them fight each other for more then a year.
This is some weak ass matchmaking. I hope HBO/Showtime turns them down, put it on PPV and let it die. They weaseled (both sides) out of the John fight. What a joke.
Isn't Juanma looking at Rojas or Litzua?
Yes, but arum mentioned Salido too. Juanma and Gamboa will fight 2 gimmies, arum will not risk his fight in june
It'd be a nice way for Gamboa to distance himself from the "Cuban amateur" pack that all Cuban-born Olypians are settled into before they break away.
However, he'd still have to have a class showing and be careful in there. Nonetheless, I'd be willing to see it.
Hopefully its not a snoozer like the Rig fight.
We can see if theres a big difference between Rig and Gamboa.
I was a big fan of Rigo before his last fight.
But, Gamboa has never really had a lackluster/boring fight.
Even his fights that go the distance, he shows spurts of just how talented he really is.
remember when john and gamboa were supposed to fight? nope not anymore boxing politics came alive as usual. do we really need 4 or 5 guys in each division acting like champs and continuing to take on lesser fighters? in a logical world there would be 1 guy on top of the division and everyone else would strive to get a fight with him. now we got a bunch of posers pretending they are the real deal and never fighting each other because it's too risky.
I think it could be pretty good. Cordoba had a good showing against Rigondeaux, and Gamboa's defense is a far cry from Rigo. Cordoba likely gets knocked out, but who knows what happens if Gamboa's chin gets touched first.
Interesting, but nothng would be more interesting than Rigo himself moving up in weight to challenge Gamboa or Juan Manuel Lopez. I find it amazing that Rigo is as a proffessional 7-0 with an intern WBA belt. Even if hes old, he should become champion, and move up in weight, but something tells me he doesn't want to risk it. He can become Bernard Hopkins at his weight, and bore f@ggots who don't know shiit about boxing :D
