After thinking about the hopkins/pascal draw and the ortiz/peterson draw....pretty much every other sport has some form overtime, why can't boxing? I understand that boxing cut back on the amount of rounds to decrease brain injuries but why not have an extra 2:00 minute overtime round if a fight is declared a draw? the fighters themselves hate draws, the promoters hate draws, and the fans hate draws.
thoughts?
I'd say either make them 11 or 13 round fights.
Or better yet, go to a two judge system. Have your panel of 3 judges, with a back up judge behind them that review the round quickly with them in the 60 second break.
Or have the commission review each round and if something has been blatantly scored incorrectly, like that 10-10 round, with no justification, it can be changed. I'm willing to let the time in which a fight ends and scores are read to be longer to ensure a fair outcome
